"Happy Valentine's Day, King!" Aerith handed a bouquet of red roses to King.
Disarmed by the sudden presentation, the gunman stared briefly at the floral display before him and then shifted his sights to the female holding it. âThank⊠you?â He hesitated as he reached for the gift, not knowing how to feel about receiving roses. But he wasnât so ill-bred that he did not know how to appreciate a warmhearted gesture. âHappy Valentineâs Day to you as well.â
Valentine's Day Headcanon --
As a child, King would often get up early on this day and drag himself to the kitchen to make small chocolate cookies for the rest of the class. Even before he became a candidate, he vaguely remembered often doing the same act with a person he could only assume was his real mother. Though he thought it was tedious and rather pointless the first time he hulled himself enough motivation to do it, but he figured the others could do with a little more cheer on the normally happy day. After all, who do they have if not each other?
As expected, the first time he made chocolate cookies after becoming a candidate was also the first time he ever baked alone. The mess he made and the rebuke he received for it was enough to nearly make it the last time he ever cooked as well. He, in the end, continued making it on that day for years to come. Though he made sure never to leave such a big mess again.
King eventually did stop after the year they started getting sent on more and more missions. Everyone was busy, and there simply wasn't enough time in the world anymore to make these tiny almost childish snacks for the entire class.
// Geck. Sorry for the lack of activity of late. It's been... difficult, trying to gather up the urge to roleplay and all. Shall attempt to get my act back together soon. ;;;
Changing Minds [Q - K - 9]
âEh?! Why not?!â
Nine was not surprised that Queen would almost instantly turn him down.  He often found himself in disagreements with her, but if he was persistent enoughâŠ
His eyes glanced back and forth between King and Queen. He had no clue what was going on, but he could tell the slight hesitation to leave was a positive sign. Â Come on, come on! Say yes, dammit!
âAlright!!â The dragoon shouted.  Nine now wore a triumphant expression, having gotten through both Queen and King.  âNow whose ass are we kickin, eh?!â Â
Sometime between his mini self-celebration, however, King had turned away and started walking. Â âO-oi! Wait up!â Â He quickly caught up with the other two. Â Any mission at this point excited him, since he hated being cooped up inside the Peristylium when barely anyone he knew was there. Â
Something told Queen that this mission would suddenly become much more tiring. But to be fair, Nineâs strength and morale were something that might be needed on this mission. And as long as he did what was ordered of him, the mission would proceed without any problems.
âSeeing as you will be joining us, I suppose it is only fair that we debrief you on the mission at hand,â she sighed defeatedly, pushing up her glasses. âWe have been assigned to take back control of a town currently being controlled by the Milites not too far from here. I am certain that recapturing enemy territory is hardly an unfamiliar task to you.â
Since the town was close enough to travel to on foot, there would be no need for chocobos this time around. Additionally, it would be easier to avoid detection that way. As the three of them approached the front gate, Queen hovered by the doors leading outside, as if hesitating for a moment.
âRemember, Nine; one mistake and I am ordering you to return to the Peristylium.â
She took a deep breath as the doors swung open. She hoped that she wasnât going to regret this decision of hers.
King remained quiet as Nine was quickly debriefed on the mission, having already went over the mission log earlier. As Queen said, it wasn't an unfamiliar mission in the slightest; for what was war if not a battle of control? But what interests him was the fact that two class zero members were assigned this mission.
For some time now only solo missions had been handed out-- or at least in his case. So the situation must be worse than usual if both him and Queen were being dispatched. Perhaps taking along Nine would be a good thing in the end. The extra fighting prowess can't hurt.
Fading out of his brief reverie as the trio slowed to a stop, the gunman's gaze shifted Queen as she reiterated her earlier warning. Then sights side swept to the dragoon to gauge his reaction as he paused to allow the others to step forward first. Lips thinned into a faint frown, feet trailing a step behind. His gut stirred oddly as they made their way to their appointed destination: a bad premonition. But eventually he shrugged it off, deciding to simply do as he usually did.
'I'll watch their backs.'
akingsheart started following you
âHello, hello! Nice to meet ya!â She waved and smiled.
"..." Brows furrowed as he looked at the small raven haired girl, unable to comprehend where she came from. Or where he current is, for that matter. Nodding once in greeting, he glanced around. "Where are we?"
The Absence of a Good Idea
ââŠ.Oi.â  The blonde rubbed the back of his neck.  Had he spoken just a tad bit louder, his roommate might have woken up.  Nine stood behind Sice as she scribbled on the gunmanâs face.  He examined his face, trying to picture what he would draw next once Sice was done.Â
âHah! Thas a good one, korÄ!â Â He peered over her shoulders, and nodded approvingly at the green mole and mindless scribbles. Â âMaybe ya shouldââ Nine stopped mid-sentence and snickered. Â The guy was simply so amused with this, and he hadnât even started making his marks yet. Â
âMustache? Tch. Course I can.â Â Nine knelt down and put his face close to the sleeping Kingâs face. Â It was peculiar to Nine that the other wasnât awake by now. Â The number of times he had attempted pranks on him in their dorm, he was usually met with a gun pointed at his face. Â Ya let Sice do this, no problem! Iâll get ya this time, oi.
For the first time (ever), the blonde showed a rather serious, concentrated expression as he took his turn creating his masterpiece. Â He started with a mustache , but since the canvas was not flat like a paper, he casually messed up here and there. Â He uncapped the other colors he took and made sure to use them all. Â When he was finished, he stood up and took a step back.
âWhaddya think, eh?â Â Never had he looked more proud. Nineâs addition included a blue nose, a big black circle around one eye, a red dot (which was supposed to look like a nosebleed, but of course he is no artist), a goatee, and a (terribly drawn) mustache. Â âShould we add sâ more?
Now THAT was a moustache. But not only did he draw on the facial hair, Nine took his time to draw a circle on his eye and decorate the gunmanâs nose. Oh, this was just too rich. Clamping a hand over her mouth, the adolescent chuckled into her palm before giving the other a light congratulatory punch on his arm. âThatâs what Iâm talkinâ âbout.â
Admiring their artwork, Sice tapped her chin thoughtfully. Could they add more nonsensical drawings? It seems as though they were running out of room to illustrate anything else, and King already looked silly as is. Leaning close to peer at the sleeping student, her face suddenly lit up. Without wasting another second, she wordlessly uncapped her green and orange marker and began to draw accessories. For his face, she drew a neon orange chain for the circle so that it looked like a monocle. When she moved to his ear, she chewed lightly on her lip in concentration as she decorated the victimâs lobe with quick, feather-light precision; a heart-shaped stud earring, and two other studs. ⊠Course, she also had to add in a helix on the outer shell of his ear. All of âpiercingsâ were the same colour as his mole. The finishing details.
Recapping the markers, she set them down with a grin. Looking at all the new jewelry mullet-man has, Sice had to admit that she was a bit âenviousâ. With a quiet snort, she turned to Nine and nodded towards the door. âThink weâre done here. Letâs split before King wakes up, yeh?â
So close. Oh so close.
Had they not lingered for the finishing details â or had Nine been more attentive in his choice of markers â perhaps they might have been able to make their masterful escape. But alas, seems lady luck wasnât solely on the duoâs side. The vandalized victim would have his shot at revenge after all.
It would start with a silent awakening: a flutter of eyelashes and dilated pupils just barely registering two blurry silhouettes. Reflexively â feeling as if the closer figure was just about to move away â a hand raised to take hold of her forearm, his grip surprisingly strong for a guy who was still half asleep. Lips parted and shifted as he mumbled something unintelligible before a grunt sounded from the back of his throat.
â⊠Sice and⊠Nine?â He squinted at the still bleary figures, straightening up and glancing around absently at his surroundings. It was then his senses caught up with him. Brows furrowed and his nose wrinkled in distaste as fumes from the permanent ink caused his head to spin. âWhatâs that smell?â The question was left to the floor, intended to no one in particular.
In search of an answer to his own inquiry, mildly irritated gaze shifted around for the source. There was Sice and Nine, a couple points of disarray (almost if those locations had been searched), a set of mismatching markers on the table⊠wait. Sice an Nine together? Alone in a room where he had been sleepingâŠ
The variables were piecing together.
Snapping his gaze back to the two, the hand wrapped around Siceâs forearm tightened as eyes narrowed into an accusing glare. Now King has always had a rather piercing look to him, but an extra layer of menace seemed to have piled on with his having just woke up and the smell slowly giving him a migraine. Of course, his face overall lost a few levels of severity thanks to the new look he was sporting.
The corners of his mouth fell into an unimpressed frown, âWhat did you two do?â
// A thousand and one apologies to FFumblr for not being active. I thought I'd be able to handle just one account on here but obviously I failed, and miserably at that. BUT I'M BACK. Or least I hope to me. First I need people who are interested in even roleplaying with me. ;; I know King's not the most entertaining character, but hey. It could be fun. Ifwetryyeshahaorz. That said! Anyone interested in starting up something, please drop me an ask or even write up a starter and tag me or ANYTHING puah. It can be a short interaction if that's easier, anything's cool with me. That said, returning from hiatus! If no one shows any interest, I'll just pop out a couple (orone) open posts for the more shy roleplayer. ;P
Changing Minds [Q - K - 9]
Nine had left the dorm to grab a quick snack, to ease his grumbling stomach.  Nothing like a sandwich and glass of milk couldnât fix, at least for now.  As he made his way back to the boyâs dormitory, his mind wandered to the scene from earlier. He had noticed King was looking over some documents rather intently and his curiosity led him to glance over the shoulders of his roommate.  The documents looked well-drafted in neat, professional font.  Itâs one oâ them mission papers, he realized.  Papers he rarely ever bothered to read thoroughly.
It took some unwanted patience to pry the details of the mission from King, but Nine had finally gotten some word. Â Eh, yer goin with Queen?! Just the two of ya? Oi, take me with ya! he recalled saying. He had been persistent in his plead, until his uncontrollable hunger interrupted him. Â
As he approached the door to his dorm, he noticed Queen standing just outside with King in the doorway. Â âOi, is it time ta go already?!â Â He took longer strides to reach the two of them quicker, with carton of milk still in hand. Â The dragoon glanced at his roommate, then at Queen. Â âYa gotta take me on this one. Iâll help ya kick some ass out there.â He grinned.
She would have turned to leave with King there and then if not for the voice that followed from the other end of the hallway. With a slight roll of her eyes, she caught sight of Nine walking towards them, looking only a little too happy to see her and King standing together.
âCorrection: myself and King will be going, just the two of us,â Queen began, pushing up the bridge of her glasses. âAnd absolutely not; I cannot allow you to come simply because you wish to âtag alongâ, as you would put it.â
It was too soon after he had just returned from his recent mission, and she didnât feel comfortable with letting him go out once again. But then again, this was Nine; the boy could hardly sit still, especially when missions and fighting were involved.
âKing, are you ready?â she asked, turning to the gunman who stood beside her but he seemed hesitant to leave, as if he were actually considering the proposition the dragoon was making. Queen shook her head, shooting a glare at Nine who glanced at her with a smug grin on his face.
She was mentally facepalming in her head; she did trust Kingâs judgement, even moreso than her own sometimes but this was simply out of the question. With a defeated sigh, she folded her arms across her chest and bit her lip.
ââŠVery well, I will allow you to come. But one stupid move and I will personally bring you back to the Peristylium myself.â
A part of him had expected more of a fight from their class leader in regards to Nine coming along. Not that he minded the matter being settled quickly; less arguing and dilly-dallying meant getting to actual mission work faster. Disagreements between Nine and Queen weren't fun to be witness too, either.
Glancing over to what he expected to be the dragoon's pleased expression upon Queen's concession, King lifted a hand to give his roommate a hearty slap on the back. "Don't make Queen regret this." The warning was made lightly though as a brief smile ghosted his features.
He didn't foresee too much trouble though. Even if Nine tended to be reckless at times, he was fairly diligent when it came to listening to orders. The gunman was usually more lax with the younger blond but Queen was more than capable to lead the mission.
Deciding it would be better if they got going, he reached back to close the door behind him. Then he wordlessly started first down the hall.
Sincerest apologies to Queen and Nine for my delayed response. The new semester is starting soon so I've been busy with preparing for that along with other aspects of life. I'll do my best to have a reply up by the weekend. I don't believe I owe anyone else replies... but if I do, submitting the link to the last post would help a lot! Thank you for your patience.
One foul throw. And then another. And another. No matter how many tiny pieces of paper she balled up and threw at him she just couldnât seem to hit Number 13. Around him, certainly. Next to him? Of course! But him? No way. Maybe that ridiculous hair cut of his is shieldingâ-before she could finish her bitter thought up rose the Gunner with a distinctive roar that practically sent Cinque off her chair. Recovering from the mild horror of excessive wake up call, the petite scouted closer already beaming. Letting a silence entrench over the two was not her original intent but, alas, it was there. So she sat there her head cupped in head an innocent grin propping up her rosy cheeks as he stared back obviously still sleepy for a minute. Maybe five. Until finally when she was about to burst she let out a little, âHiiiiiidey-hey Kiki~!!âÂ
The silence was like a blanket over his consciousness, preventing him from waking up completely as his stare was directed at the fellow candidate but not necessarily focused on her. A part of him wondered if she was even there and not just a dream seeping into reality. If she had waited any longer to speak, he might have let his head droop and slip back into his earlier slumber.
Blinking twice, but not visibly changing into a more awakened state, he stared at her a moment longer before a hand slowly lifted to poke the ginger lightly on the forehead. "Morning Cinque..." the greeting came out in a friendly murmur as he pulled back and stretched his arms above his head.
While he stretched, he took notice of the small crumpled balls littered around his area. Unsure as to why he was surrounded by paper, he lifted one up and peered at it blankly before glancing back to Cinque; his mind lazily connecting the dots.
As quickly as it had appeared Cinqueâs disappointed face left and was replaced with another glowing smile. Her eyes lit up in realization that she had indeed forgot to show King the source of her current happiness. Pulling out a green colored workbook the ginger held it out to her classmate to see. Neatly in the top corner of the parchment was a written 90, a number that wasnât thought of when Cinque was involved. Another surprise to their commander after grading it in fact.Â
âCinque didnât fail!~â
Sure enough, the ninety on her paper was proof enough that she didn't fail her assignment. He was surprised, to say the least, but happy for the ginger; evident by the small smile the corner of his lips lifted into. "You must've worked hard." He observed, attention moving off the workbook and back to Cinque. King also noted that the grade was higher than anything he's received this year... maybe it was time he started focusing on his studies instead of only his training.
Changing Minds [Q - K - 9]
Sifting through loose leaf papers on her desk, Queen organised them into a neat pile to the side of her desk, glancing briefly at the top sheet. It was a report she was in the middle of writing, but she would have to leave that until later; more important matters needed to be attended to.
Sitting on the edge of her bed, she took a small folder from the bedside that contained details of her new mission assignment. She had been reading it last night, making sure she didnât miss any details. It was a simple enough mission; recapturing enemy territory was nothing new to her. And more importantly, she wouldnât be alone.
It was almost time to leave. Making the last adjustments to her uniform and ensuring she looked presentable, she took one last look around her room before closing the door. She always told herself she would return and everything would be just as she had left it.
Walking to the boysâ side of the dorms, she stopped before a door bearing the letters âXIIIâ on the front. With a small tap, she waited patiently until her to-be partner answered, looking similarly prepared for the mission at hand. Nodding once at her, Queen nodded back. He knew; they both knew what needed to be done.
Long fingers had been smoothing back his mane of golden hair when the tap at the door came. His naturally stern stare shifted to the mission profile sitting center stage on his desk as he took a half step back and turned to face the door, an accurate guess as to who was at the door already in mind. With a quick turn of the knob, he opened the door and exchanged nods with the class leader in greeting.
A part of him was relieved that she had come now while he was alone in the dorm room. Earlier, while he had been going over the mission details, his rather curious roommate caught him and the gunman was prompted into revealing that he was heading off today on a mission with Queen. This led to a rather long conversation â which was mostly one sided on Nineâs part â of the dragoon trying to convince King to bring him along.
Currently Nine was out of the room, having left earlier to do something âreal quickâ, which was the reason for Kingâs relief. Personally he didnât mind the troublemakerâs company; they are roommates after all. But he wasnât quite sure if the organized and by-the-book Queen would approve of it, and heâd rather not have things become complicated. Unfortunately, it would soon seem that her timing was not as favorable as he had assumed.
Just as chapped lips parted to suggest they get going, the all easily heard greeting of their classmate sounded from his left. Slowly glancing down the hall to spot Nine approached, the gunman closed his mouth once again. He exhaled slowly almost in defeat as his mind swiftly resigned to simply allow the other to tag along. Whereâs the harm?
Nine braced himself when he saw Kingâs hand lift. By now, it had become a natural reaction of his when people so often lifted their hands to smack him, whether in a serious manner of a playful one.  But of course, he knew King better than that. âO-Oi!âÂ
He ran his fingers through his hair which was now in even more disarray than it had originally been. But there was no way Nine would get mad over this. He was much too happy to see more familiar faces returning to the Peristylium, especially that of the classmate standing before him.
His moment of happiness was quickly interrupted by a thunderous noise from down below. His empty stomach. He glanced at King, feeling slightly embarrassed, but trying his hardest not to let it show.Â
âHave ya eaten yet? Iâve been walkin âround fer hours with nothin in here, korÄ!â
The taller blondâs thought process was momentarily halted by the sound of Nineâs stomach loudly declaring its need for fuel, leading to his drifting gaze to lock back with his in mild amusement. Considering how long heâd been roommates with the scarred blond now, the sound of his stomach growling had a familiarity to it â which might be an odd thing to take note of now that he thought about it.
Had he eaten? King hesitated to answer as he backtracked to earlier that day, time seemingly having slipped by as a blur. ââNo.â He finally concluded, line of sight having wandered to the side again while he considered the otherâs question.
Looking at the dragoon once more, he tilts his head slightly in deliberation. It has been some time since theyâve hung out; perhaps they could head off campus for once in search of something different to eat. Him cooking was an option as well, though hasnât done so in awhile. ââŠAnything you want to eat?â He asked, ultimately choosing to leave the decision up to Nine.

"..." Calloused fingers ran through long blond strands as the gunman lifted his head from the desk and released a lion of a yawn. "Is it class time...?" He mumbled drowsily as eyes shifted from one student to another.
