How to connect with the MBTI types: Dominant Perceivers

INTJ/INFJ

(Dominant Ni) Admittedly, these types can be elusive! You'll have the most luck by asking them if they see deeper meaning/symbolism in something OR if something could be improved. It's a bit abstract and can definitely be challenge depending on what topics are easily approachable given the social situation, but it can be interesting to get creative! Because they're introverted, you could always start by telling them what kinds of insights/meaings/improvements you are able to extract from something and ask if they agree or disagree. Showing them that you've already given some thought to it will encourage them to participate.

ENTP/ENFP

(Dominant Ne) One word: imagination. Better yet, two words: "what if?" These types thrive on new ideas and varying hypotheticals - the more unusual, the better! As long as you can think of something that can be extrapolated upon, they will latch onto it and run with it. But make no mistake - you still have to participate! If you don't contribute your own unique ideas, they'll end up talking to themselves and perceive that as you not being interested. If they don't think you're interested, then they won't be interested in sharing those thoughts with you.

ISTJ/ISFJ

(Dominant Si) Personal experience. These types are practical and enjoy using their personal experience to inform the present, especially if there is a practical outcome. An easy way to target this is by asking for advice/product recommendations. Anything tangible that you see them use on a regular-basis - ask them about it! Where/when did they get it, do they like it, how can their experience be informative for you. This is sure to get things started and opens up more room to expand later on!

ESTP/ESFP

(Dominant Se) Observe and engage with your surroundings. These types live in the present like no other and, as such, will be ready to experience it with you. Taking the opportunity to do something with these types is actually more impactful than anything you could be saying to them. Of course they are extraverted, so I'm sure they'll enjoy talking about whatever activity you're doing together while you're doing it. If anything, you'll have an opportunity to talk about the activity you both just participated in after you've finished!

Being introverted (INFJ), I've worked hard on social skills and I'm proud to say socializing is less tiring than it used to be, but I'm coming to face the reality that it will always be tiring. Is there another way except socializing to feel connected to the world?

One's relationship to the world is mediated through the two extraverted functions, which are Fe and Se in INFJ. To simplify, Fe is about feeling connected, whereas Se is about being connected. Why is this seemingly minor distinction important?

One of the great advantages of being INFJ is that you are gifted with great powers of imagination. With Ni+Fe, you possess a unique capacity to conjure connections to the world. This means you can form a strong emotional bond with anything in the world, simply because you want to.

You might quibble with the word "conjure" because it sounds like you're just inventing something, and how can something fake or unreal be truly meaningful? I don't see it that way. A feeling is real, and feeling connected benefits your emotional well-being in very real ways. The benefits include: contentment, joy, love, fulfillment, and a sense of mattering. Life is hard enough, so why deprive yourself of this gift?

Yes, conjuring connections becomes a problem when it is the only means through which you can connect with the world (aka trapped in your own head). This is why it's important to strike the right balance between feeling connected and actually being connected. Fe development will only help quell Se grip if it leads to at least some concrete connections in the real world. Thus, social connection with real people is absolutely necessary, but it doesn't have to be the only or even the primary means of worldly connection.

It's always quite sad to me to see INFJs suffer from having their imagination stifled or oppressed. If you are one of them, perhaps you're wondering how to go about conjuring connections. To feel "bonded" to something is essentially to deeply love that thing, which requires opening your heart to it. I can give you simple examples from the many INFJs I've met. Some INFJs feel a strong bond with the authors that inspire them. Some feel a strong bond with nature, plants, or animals. Some feel a strong bond with creative works like music or paintings. Some feel a strong bond with sacred objects. Some feel a strong bond to particular places, times, or events.

Since you can form a strong emotional bond with anything, the only limit is your imagination. The more you work to expand your imagination, the more receptive your eyes will become, and the more opportunities you'll discover for filling your heart with love. People often chase love as though it's an elusive object out there in the world. Unfortunately, they don't realize that love can be willed into existence and actively infused into life, so there is no need to be so starved or desperate for it. Since you're very easily fatigued by socializing, you might be missing this key ingredient. If you approached people with a heart full of love, you might find socializing to be easier and much more fulfilling.

The 7th house deals with your shadow, the part of you that you repressed growing up due to pain and abuse and the things you repressed is what you try to find in others to feel complete again.

For example if your moon is there you may have been called a crybaby or too emotional growing up so you learned to repress your emotions and need for emotional attachments, so you subconsciously desire to find people who are emotional and desire those emotional attachments. Usually there is a tendency to get lost in other people’s emotions and there is a need to stop waiting for people to tell them how to feel so they can learn to deal with their own emotions.

So because all the things in the 7th house is what you repress it is what you want to find in others. 7th house stellium desire to find people to relate to, to connect with because they feel “half if who they are” (again because they repressed a lot of stuff) to feel whole again, but the actual way for 7th house people to overcome this is facing their shadows, the things that they repressed abd bring it to light

“Land on sight!” Someone screams above us, alerting everyone into position. The ship sways gracefully as my mother’s crew start to work simultaneously. It only takes a few minutes for the ship to carefully dock on the bay and have everyone reach land. I’m so excited to finally breathe the scent of anything else that’s not fish or saltwater, that I start to run along the deck; dodging everyone who stands on my way.

“Rin Han Montui! Where do you think you’re going?” I hear my mother ask with a stern voice behind me. I stop on my tracks and shrink slightly as I turn to look at her. Her hands are on her hips as she starts to make her way towards me.

“You have to help get everything down.” She tells me, looking down at me with an air of authority. “If one day you wish to lead a ship, you must understand how everyone works as a group.” Her words make me let out a heavy sigh.

“Mother, we both know that the next one to take such a responsibility would be Bora.” I say; since my oldest brother Jay already is captain of his own ship, and he’s sailing with his own crew. “So, I don’t know why you are even bothering to teach me all that.”

“Because that doesn’t matter to me.” She says, reaching out to caress my face lovingly. “You might be my youngest child but I will teach you nonetheless, and as my own blood you will also do as I say.” Her fingers pinch my face softly, making me wince in embarrassment.

“So you’re telling me this as my mother and not my captain?” I ask her playfully, a small smirk dancing on my lips.
