So this wolf was over a century old, and yet still a slave, that was interesting. He smiled and nodded to the wolf bartender “My brother turned me, I was an unhappy accident.” he said with a shrug “Then he ran away like a coward and left me choking on my own blood.”  he rolled his eyes “So I haven’t been a wolf for very long and it was a complete surprise when the moon ripped my skin from me!”

“I am sorry to hear you were pushed into this life without proper guidance.” Not sure what more to say to such a confession. Alden wasn’t exactly ushered easily into this life himself. But he had let go of the past that brought him to Covaire. Holding onto it was childish as it only served as an anchor keeping him from moving forward.

As he spoke, her compulsion could not do much than sit for his tale brought forth a similar one into her mind. She was born in a cage, tortured, experimented on by hunters and because of her, her father had died. She kenned of his pain and understood now the kind of beast he was underneath. How he concealed so much darkness underneath his veil was impressive. Yet the ache in her denied heart cause her some pain at her frontal lobe. She reached for his hand. “Utmost apologies.” Her voice was filled with compassion and emotion she rarely felt and even more now than before. This was a voice of understanding..

She smiled, rising on a trembling arm and her hand moved to his cheek; she sounded older, tired. “We were all innocent once, and so few stays such. You were born gifted but lacking control. It brings me comfort that another who is deserving found a master to suit him.” she half fell back into her bed. “We shall thank the Fates for granting you such, but ken Alden that some of us can no longer bathe in the light. I was born in darkness, light is not a place for those like I. If I find peace, I shall rejoice, but happiness is not a thing the Fates leave long upon my path.”

The smile that lingered upon her lips was grateful, for Gale would find herself unable to thank him with words for sharing such tales with her. Her eyes drifted shut as fatigue could no longer be fought and slept had to claim her before madness surged across her body.

For what it was worth though his initial meeting with her this day was cold he was glad to find a warm smile to end it with. His story was not one shared with  often and she would be the second to hear it. It was a show of how much he cared for the mistress in a way he could not express aloud. If things were different and he were not bound by the invisible chains of a slave he might’ve called her ‘friend’. But they could not hold such a title when they were not equal platforms in the Covaire hierarchy.

Once she drifted to sleep Alden still stayed by her side, silent to ensure she found peaceful rest. But as the sun began to set behind him he figured he should be getting home. Leaning in he placed a slight kiss upon her forehead, saying a silent prayer to however was listening that she too found her light. Maybe if he didn’t have faith in God he could have a little faith in fate. Putting his chair back where he found it Alden departed her penthouse and made his way home.

Like the previous full moons since he claimed Alden, Aristaios had only gone out to run and hunt for a little bit before spending the rest of his night inside. He didn’t much like to leave his wolf alone, especially inside a cage when nature really called for him to be around other wolves. or at least out in the open. He’d been lying there, curled up on the floor beside the cage, naked as he didn’t move even after the moon phased him back to human form, and eyes slowly opened as he heard movement. He looked at the frame where the other was expecting, and couldn’t help a small laugh, despite the fact that it was clear his wolf’s head was hurting. “Your beast… He hates to be tamed…” He pushed himself up with an arm, staying propped up on it as his other hand reached through and affectionately cupped the side of his face with a soft concerned expression. “Are you alright?”

Alden always waited for Aristaios to wake before he would disturb his master. Knowing he would be tired from the shift and also because he felt guilty. When Alden was still connected to his wolf he remembered the pull to run under the full moon until it fell from the sky. Even if Ari did get in a run beforehand he did hate to cause him to spend the rest of his night lied next to a cage. “No...I think it’s more he hates being kept from the hunt.” He replied in an almost whispered tone. Alden’s wolf wanted to kill. Being kept from satisfying his bloodlust is what pushes the beast to bash his head into a metal bar until it bends. Turning his face into the hand at his cheek he kissed Ari’s palm and pulled closer to him. “You don’t always have to stay with me at night. You have no reason to care for the wolf I turn to...he’s not me.” And further more Alden hated the idea of Ari seeing him like that. Like some monster. Eyes shifting to the bent bar. “We might need to replace my cage soon. I know he only bent the bar but you can’t give him any window of a possibility to escape.”

Galadrielle had learned through Erebus that her past was not one to be ashamed of, yet her memories were still blocked to her most of the time for the pain she had gone through was excruciating. The petite mistress doubted that anyone of her rank had lived through similar pain, therefor she spoke none of it.

A few sip were taken from the glass and placed upon a nightstand to rest. She had expected him to talk, not to ask her things. A soft smile came to her lips, “You ask questions when I hope for you to talk?” it was not said harshly. “There is no attraction that has brought me here for I was sent here. I was raised in a clan and my mentor fell in love with me. I cannot love another for my heart is lost in the fire and the blood of my kin. And he sent me to Covaire in trusting to hope that I would find happiness here…” she whispered, her voice faint, sounding almost delusional. “How wrong he was for this city has brought me nothing but pain and now he is dead…”

Alden listened to her tale, while brief, spoke volumes to him. For a moment he stayed silent. Listening to the curse in her tone that mirrored one he carried in his heart. The fear held for the danger he brought others. The lost hope of every finding happiness again...or even if it was deserved. Eyes falling to the floor. If she wanted him to talk then it was command he would obey. “Before coming to Covaire I was caged for most of my life. A lab rat. I was broken and reshaped into a weapon. A mindless beast that would slaughter any that stepped before me....including my own brother.” A confession that he’d only shared with one other person since coming to this city.

It took a deep breath before he continued. “I was born with a curse in my genes I had no knowledge of. And once I learned what I was it was taken from me...broken to the point I have no connection to my wolf. Yet I carry every sin caused by each life he has taken. Innocent or otherwise. The sea of blood he spilled is on my hands. I never thought I’d be happy again...but then I found Aristaios.” Though he held back on sharing the bond he and his master had in common. It was not his secret to tell. “I don’t believe in hope...or faith. Or even God at this point. But for whatever reason I found what I believed would be forever lost to me. My pain only made me stronger and prepared me for where I am now. It showed me what I can survive so I would know how precious any beam of light I find is to hold onto.” He reached out and touched her hand. “No matter how much darkness we hold inside of ourselves....there is a light out there waiting for us. We just have to be ready to bath in it without burning.”

The large wolf bit down on his bottom lip at the firm, possessive grip on his waist, his forehead resting against the door. A smile spread across his lips pleased by his master’s reaction to his touch. Each shiver or moan only fueled his urge to push Ari to the edge. Even the sound of the older wolf’s nails scratching into the wood was a sign he was doing a job well done. Slipping in a second finger he gave his thrust as twist, spreading his fingers apart in preparation of ‘deeper’ investigation. “I shouldn’t have let him get within an inch of you. But I’m here now to take away all the pain he caused. Make feel better.” He kissed Ari’s right ass cheek before he took a bite of his firm flesh. “But I’m still not deep enough...I need something a little longer than my fingers.” Standing up to his feet he drew a trail of kisses and nips to Aristaios skin up his back. Leaving his own marks upon what he saw as his. Even if he was a slave and held no right to any possession in this world, Aristaios belonged to him. The night of the attack proved the lengths he would go to keep Ari at his side. Surviving death only strengthened his bond to the master. Hesitation upon his words, yet in such instance, Galadrielle would not press the matter, but caring for the petite shewolf was seen as a curse in her eyes. Too many had cared and had been lost to the fire. He was much older than her, yet if power were to be compared, being a Beta gave Galadrielle a slight advantage in strength.

“A glass of water.” she spoke softly and once brought to her, she offered her gratitude. “Will you talk to me Alden?” she did not longer called him wolf, fatigue stronger than the compulsion. How fragile she truly looked and how broken she truly was as she laid in her large bed, closer to the slave.

It was something they shared. Believing themselves to be a curse upon those who came too close to their darkness. Anyone that was in Alden’s life was in danger of his wolf. The mindless beast that tore all to shreds. Not for food or because he was threatened but for the mere act of death. Sparing not even his own blood. It was a bond they shared not yet spoken.

With a nod he moved to get her a drink of water. Didn’t take him long to figure his way around so he returned to her bedside in good timing. Once the glass was passed into her hands he found a nearby chair to bring closer to the bed. “Yes....sure.” Though he wasn’t exactly the most social of people so small talk didn’t come easy for him. “Can I ask what led you here? To Covaire? What is the attraction to the city? If you don’t mind me asking.”

Alden woke with a grown as the sun burned against his eyelids. His head was pounding, body aching more than usual. At his age the shift was more draining than painful but something felt off. It took him a moment before he was able open his eyes and let his gaze adjust to the light. Blinking a few times till his vision was clear. Looking around nothing seemed out of place...no bodies lying around and the absence of blood on his tongue was always a good sign. Though he noticed something different about his bars. Drawing closer he touched at the frame and noticed one was more bent than the others. Only took a second to draw the conclusion to the case of his headache. “Dammit.”

“Not all, and when I do, I cannot always pick through them, they’re like memories, out of place.’ he said with a small smile and was about to try and shake the other wolf’s hand but he was already moving to serve the next customer and he sat back instead. “Ari did well, you’re obviously used to your abilities.” he smiled “And you did too, he’s a good man.”

He huffed a chuckle. “I would imagine after living for over a century I would have some grasp of what I’m capable of.” Alden poured the next customer a beer after he made his order. “That he is.” Said with a smile that his muscle seemed to respond to instinct at the mere thought of his master. “I take it you haven’t been a wolf long? Or were you surprised to discover you were born differently?” Alden being the latter.

Were they not alone? Could she not be a lesser version of herself while hidden from the world? He had seen her blind had he not. He had seen her bare and thus she did not care for him to witness her as such again; she undressed, by her bed, slipping under the white satin sheets.

“I will not force your hand.” the coldness in her voice was slipping away as her weakened state made the compulsion less efficient for details. “I have nothing for you to read. How troublesome.”

Galadrielle had yet to comprehend the danger of falling asleep with one at her side for her sleep was plagued by pavor nocturnus.

Alden stood silent as she removed her clothes. He felt he should divert his eyes out of respect but could not tear his gaze away. It was more than just lustful desires, Gale was a woman of pure admiration. Still a child in his eyes. Old enough to be his granddaughter and yet she held such strength and power. Though her light was dulled by some unknown means. Even though his senses were not as powerful as that of one connected to his wolf he could tell this much.

“I am not here because I am forced. I am here because I ca....” The word ‘care about you’ was so close to falling from his lips but it was not something a slave should say so freely. Especially not to someone who he did not belong to. “...because I can tend to you while you are without a slave of your own.” Coming closer he bent down beside her bed. “Are you hungry? Thirsty?”

Softly she spoke, telling him where to turn. Until the penthouse was reached and she mentally sighed as her gaze fell upon the building.

Alden followed the directions given with ease. Having a good understanding of the city’s layout after decades of being held as its slave. He hoped his master would be okay with him assisting another in this way. Seemed Alden had never displeased Ari before and he hoped this would not be a first. “I don’t believe I’ve been here before. Do you need me to contact your slave to come help you further?” Not aware of Gale’s parting with her former slave as he wasn’t in to the ‘know’ of others households.

If he had been younger, she would have retaliate for his familiarity and yet Alden was much older and had never acted rudely toward her, nor had she ever heard complains toward his person. Reaching for his phone he sent a text to inform Ari of his whereabouts before he started to lead Gale through the streets of the city. Given his height and strength it made it easy to support the younger mistress. Making it seem as if she were walking of her own ability with a slave just close at her side. Last time it was far easier to lift her in his arms and carry her home where there weren’t so many on the streets and robbed of their sight.
