we’re art if we look just right
I love being 27.
one day, you wake up and you’re 27 and you finally understood what it means to be in charge of your own happiness. you wake up and letting go is the only thing you hold on to. you wake up and realize you do have time, not as much, but more today than tomorrow. you wake up and feel your self, yourself, in a way that makes it all make sense — only because you finally understand that nothing makes sense. one day you wake up.
“I watch him in the kitchen, and I think of how much it hurts to love somebody. How deep the hurt is, how almost unbearable. It’s not the love that hurts; it’s the possibility of anything happening to the object of your love.”
— Augusten Burroughs, Magical Thinking
Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light, and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery — celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: ‘It’s not where you take things from — it’s where you take them to.’
Jim Jarmusch, Five Golden Rules of Cinema

“The secret is to find someone who engages you deeply, to form a connection that goes further than desire and lust. It’s not enough to covet only a face or a body, true chemistry begins with the intellect and heart.”
