Of Twists and Knockturns || Alecto & Edgar
Edgar hadnโt been at work all that long before he had gotten notified that he was to respond to an investigation that had just been open. Of course it had been near the end of his shift that he had been noticed and so it was with no other word that he grabbed his coffee and his coat and set out towards his task. They days of sleep had been infrequent but then again his hours were always changing. He didnโt think it it was a mistake being an Auror. He didnโt regret it one bit. He recalled when he first decided he wanted to pursue being an auror. How elated he felt to tell his family. Of course it wasnโt a smooth or easy conversation. In fact, his parents had been well more so his dad worried. He didnโt want his son plunging himself further into danger. There were risks everyday of being an Auror and it terrified his parents he was in the middle of it. So there was a compromise to write daily. They didnโt have to tell him to check on his sister, that he did all his own, he couldnโt not.
Looking towards the somewhat familiar alley he had begun to a hear a noise. It wasnโt too surprising he had responded to plenty and knew well enough how to de escalate and respond. Sooner he could end whatever this was the sooner he could leave. A boulder like pressure sat on his chest when he considered what it might be. There was no denying the ever growing tension he heard a scuffle and something muttered, it could very well be what he heard it might perhaps be the beginnings of another possible attack on someone or mishandling a poisonous potentially fatal magical objects.. he didnโt want to imagine the rest knowing it would be not far from believable. His eyes refocused when they landed on a familiar figure, one he knew well since childhood โAlecto, donโt tell me.. I have to include you in anything I write tonight.โ He said looking past her a bit and raising an eyebrow.
Alecto Carrow was a perfectionist. She scrutinized details from an astute perspective and made sure nothing got forgotten in the process. After all, she had a reputation to maintain, and that reputation meant she couldnโt be carted away to Azkaban for any of her crimes just because she forgot to clean up after herself. Being sloppy got you caught, and she refused to get caught. Aside from her position as a security consultant, she contacted spies in the various departments for their information, all for a very fair price, of course. It was through the latter she found the report about Edgar Bones visiting one of her crime scenes. Sheโd made sure the place was clean of anything incriminating her, of course, even planting leads towards another suspect, but it was always better to be careful.
โFeel free to include me,โ She replied, a grin growing on her lips as she stepped into the alley. Her relationship with Edgar might be complicated, but he was still attractive enough to warrant a genuine smile on her part.ย โThe department head knows I like to look around crime scenes, for security purposes, of course.โ Her black Pigalle Follies clicked on the cobblestones as she stepped further in Edgarโs direction, her grin turning more flirtatious when she stepped into the light.ย โJust be sure to mention how great I look in this outfit.โ
Carefully looking around the alley, she found nothing amiss, but that didnโt mean she was going to just move on. Besides, Edgar was always fun, and Alecto was desperate for a bit of fun after all the paperwork they dropped on her at work.ย โSo, do you have a lot of work left to do here, or should I wait around so that we could grab a drink afterward?โย
