No, that's really true. You would just be funneling everyone's money back into the conservatory and the ocean and I for one would be very okay with that. At least I wouldn't feel like I was being bamboozled for no reason! I feel like someday I need to rewatch that show, but they're redoing it now, aren't they?
I would only know how to use that amount of money for good and also for shoes, you know? But the shoes would cost far less than what I'd be giving back to the earth. I believe so, I have to admit that it's not something I think about- maybe one day if I have some sort of grandchild.
Plenty of good corn salad recipes out there, and you can definitely use lemon in street corn varieties, if you're savvy enough. I'm bridging the culture gap between my parents, clearly. I'll go ahead and do that, maybe I'll make us some sort of pre-prom dinner, like on Friday next week so you can help me finalize my tie selection. Yes, of course, and would you have it any other way?
Oh, right. You're the corn expert for all ages. But I have to say...I don't know if we need corn salad. We don't need half the salads we have to begin with. Don't you pay someone to choose your clothes for you? Because if I'm selecting your time, that's fine, but I want commission for these sorts of tasks.
Are you secretly the Benefactor? Have we been barking up the wrong tree this entire thing while you hold on to secrets? I should have known. But yeah, I do think that you're more suited for Fairy Godmother of the Ocean. Morgan Freeman is cool, too, but you're cooler, don't worry. Maybe you're like what's her name with the magic school bus, but specifically for ocean-related things!
You know I'm one of the few people who couldn't be because my main priority is protecting the environment and particularly the waters around here and he's rather...doing the opposite. I believe they went in the ocean on that bus once or twice, I can't be sure. It's been a long while since I've had a child in the home.
We do use quite a bit of lemons in our Italian cooking. Or corn for the Mexican side, if I wanted to make sure that my dad was represented, just saying. Ah, well, there are probably worse things to be the king of, at least grapes are pretty useful, right? Yeah, I feel like I've been waiting so long, and when that moment comes... I have to capitalize on it.
Lemons and corn? I guess you could make them both work together. They're both rather refreshing in their own ways. maybe you can cook something for me using them both. See what I did there? Grapes are useful, and delicious so that's a good choice. Just like you, capitalizing on anything that comes your way.
That's true, I would actually hate to be on the receiving end of your revenge, it seems like the wrong place for a person to end up! Right, and then you run into that issue of helping actually making things worse, which... no good. Kind of sucks. That's true, that's where you come in -- you get to be their very wise, very pretty voice and help them get what they need.
Well, there's no one alive today who ended up there. Because I'm absolutely, horrifically evil. In case you weren't aware. I like to think what you mean is that I'm the fairy godmother of the ocean, or like Morgan Freeman but younger and sexier, guiding them through understanding the world.
And some of the grapes are so purple that they look almost blue... so add that to the mix, and apparently I need to know a lot more than I gave myself credit for. It clearly stuck with me, maybe because I felt better than the other grape-lovers, implying that some were blue? I feel like I finally have a right to talk poorly about the wealthy without sounding like a hypocrite, so... thank you, Benefactor.
So that's five colors. You're nearly at a rainbow, just need to find something yellow to round it out. Lemons, perhaps? That feels appropriately Italian. You're the ultimate grape lover, yes. The king of grapes. Oh, were you just waiting for an excuse to shit talk other wealthy people?
“If I said no, will you hate me?” She grinned. Jordyn was competitive. She loved games, she appreciated playing games. She also loved getting out of her comfort zone. “Ring toss? Oh come on! I know you can do better than that!” She pouted. “For me? Will you try to step outside of your comfort zone? Challenge yourself… I mean your support for us at MFD is appreciated but I know you can do this.”
"I generally don't hate people easily, so no. Unless..." Aleja trailed off, for something like dramatic effect, but she remained grinning. "Well, I could try something more competitive, though you know that my money is going to the same place no matter how much I'm competing with it, right?"
Well, grapes are technically purple and green, so I'm sure that's four colors you needed to know. That's so boring of you. And that's how you learned the remaining colors, then? I think I've heard you mention blue once or twice, so you learned that somewhere. Not in the least, and it's not sometimes our civic duty to do so, either.
I understand it, there are rules that you have to follow in polite societies! And one of those rules is that if someone rats you out, you're allowed to do what you need to do to seek revenge. Me too. It seems less daunting and overwhelming when you can point out how they can help with the things that they already have right in their backyard. Or just by listening or making a small donation, even.
And you know my revenge won't be pretty, as someone who never does anything in halves. Sometimes people want to help but don't know how, so it helps to sort of...guide them to the things you already have for them to help with. Or to give their money to, and the sea creatures appreciate it, since they can't advocate for themselves.
I wouldn't dream of ratting you out to anyone like that! It wouldn't be very nice of me as your niece who loves you very much, after all. Hey, we do what we have to do to make sure that people take us seriously when it comes to the ocean and... the rest of the environment, too. Thankfully, we do have the conservatory, so I feel like that helps. That, and people in this town do tend to care a little more about things like that, I think?
That's good, because I hate to do harm to one of my very favorite people in the world, but sometimes you have to if they rat you out, you know? I think it's good to find ways to meet people where they're at, and mayking them care with the resources they already have. People are busy and working hard on their own things, it can be hard to dedicate time and energy to causes.
You're exactly right, we weren't allowed to move up a grade until we could tell our teachers where the wine was made, what year, what glass we had to use... it was such a hard time, truly. Oh, no, of course. Because no one likes to talk poorly about me or any other person in a position of power once given the opportunity.
So instead of regular elementary school, you just...learned how to be a sommelier? That makes sense. But you're not one now, so you didn't do a good job. People definitely don't like talking poorly about the wealthy and powerful.

“Are you sure?” Jordyn asked the person next to her. She didn’t want to hurt their feelings and she was winning so far. “My streak is incredible and I am quite fabulous at this game.” She tied the back of her work shirt with a scrunchie showing off her midriff. “So pick a game you feel you can win.” She teased.
"Oh no, please." Aleja turned with a smile to the younger woman. "I think the only games i could win are the ones up to chance or maybe the ring toss, but I don't want to be carrying around a giant glass bottle of soda," she remarked. "Unless there's a game you know you're bad at."
They'd be missing out on a great opportunity if they didn't, since we all know how good of a boss you would be in pretty much any situation or any business setting. Obviously! We do. And we have to protect those oceans, too, so hopefully the good vibes help people to want to do that.
Well, I guess it's for the best, though, because as much as I can be the boss, sometimes I don't want to. Don't tell people I'm talking nonsense like that, though, in case they think they can get a leg up on me. Listen, I'm not above bribing people into caring about the oceans. Or anything really, it's just that oceans are particularly important to me.
No, I mean aesthetically. Different alcohol has its own vessels, right? A red wine glass is not the same as a white wine glass, you know. Or maybe you don't? Actually, that would be a great fundraising opportunity. Would you like to give it a go? I'm sure it'd only be a little bit humiliating.
Do you... know who you are talking to, Aleja? I knew which wine went into which glass before I knew what wine tasted like, that's something that the teach us in elementary school in Italy! Ah, no. Thanks, but no. I couldn't even imagine what some of these people would say about me, and I quite frankly do not want to find out.
I was going to contest that, but that does actually sound believable for Italians. Like you had to know how to pour wine just right in order to leave grade school. You're such a spoilsport, I'm sure everyone would be kind and perfectly civil to you and not say anything awful at all.
I was going to say, you've got the kind of natural aura to you that if you needed to get a new job -- which you don't have to worry about -- you could just walk into a place and they would hire you. Naturally. No kidding! It would probably help a lot not just for this whole Benefactor situation, but literally everything else going on in the world.
I actually am assuming I will walk into a place and they'll invite me to be the boss. I think that's the treatment I deserve. To be the boss of everyone. Honestly, we have to put a little bit of positive energy from Merrock out into the world, so let's start with the oceans.
Is that for aesthetic purpose, or are you talking about those wine glasses that are practically fish bowls on stems...? Because I'm not sure that's the same thing. But I get it, I suppose that even you have to have your limits with how much wine you can and cannot have, yes? Of course you are! You would be the roast master of the Bardales Roast.
