Last Thursday, the Durham Student Union voted against ratifying the Men’s Issues Awareness Society citing "intersectional feminism is a core value of this Union and the Men’s Issues Awareness Society (MIAS) contravenes this".
Feminists ruining good things that would benefit men in the name of their bullshit ideology, as is tradition.
Similar examples of male student issues not being recognised and rejected in the UK were evident last year at the University of York. Plans to host talks and lectures discussing male dominated issues under International Men’s Day were greeted with harsh criticism. The planned day was rebutted with an open letter from students, faculty and alumni stating the day “merely amplifies existing structural imposed inequalities”. The day was eventually cancelled due to this pressure, despite a male student committing suicide two days before the proposed International Men’s Day.
Where there is feminism, there will be no equality.
A report published today by the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) confirms that 80 per cent of higher education institutions have more female than male students, with men a minority among undergraduates, postgraduates, full-time students and part-time students.
The failure to recognise days or societies dedicated to men’s issues only sidelines these issues further, and creates a taboo around difficult to talk about subjects. Withholding this vital information from male students will only result in the failure to prevent their growing prevalence.
They do this all the time, when a uni wants to open a men’s issues union the university shuts it down because someone lobbies against the men’s union with “well the women’s issues union is about feminism and feminism is about equality and already “handles” men’s issues”. And the uni just goes along with it because their policies are always “we can’t have two societies which advocate for the same thing if one already exists for it” because the uni would see that as a waste of funds.
So the university rejects setting up a men’s centre because the feminist-led women’s issues centre says they are for equality for everyone and supposedly handle men’s issues. So the uni’s board of directors/student affairs leaves men’s issues to be handled by the women’s centre. Except we all know they never do handle anything about men’s suffering/issues except exacerbate it. See this is the problem of the “feminism is about equality” lie, we know it is a lie and most everyone thinks that statement is harmless but it isn’t, it’s what gets men’s issues awareness unions shut down/unable to get off the ground. Universities are a huge feminist cesspool and this just reinforces that. Every men’s issues union in existence at a uni which I only know of 2 in all of North America and I think that’s all there is (KSU Men and SFU Men and Boys) have had to fight harrrrd to make their union become a reality. This is because of feminist opposition and the equality lie that feminist-led university faculty sell to everyone else which has become a shut down tactic. And this is all despite pretty much all tens of thousands of colleges having a women’s centre, seriously where is the equality there? It’s scary af when you can use “equality” as a legit censorship motion and it be effective.
And look at how feminists respond to boys not getting into Uni. By saying that boys aren’t entering education because *spins the wheel* they’re criminals.
Look how everyone else responds. By victim blaming and turning the conversation to rich white men, or to ethnic minorities and women who are still doing better than boys as a whole in education.
