small ideas to adopt
drink more water - I know everyone goes on about it but i honestly don’t drink enough
meditate - try apps like ‘stop breathe think’ or headspace
change your sheets/make your bed
stretch or workout - just move your muscles tbh
get some sunlight
listen to some new music
get dressed - even if you’re not going out
journal
pay attention to what you’re eating
look people in the eye - it gets easier with practice
wear suncream
pack your bag the night before
aim for 8 hours sleep
reply to texts/emails you’ve been ignoring
compliment others - also accept compliments
read more and read widely
MOISTURIZE - especially in winter
This is mainly a reminder to myself tbh
you don’t heal from depression. no one wants to tell you this, but you don’t heal from it. there will be days (maybe even weeks) where you feel so much better, where you feel like you’re walking on sunlight even when it’s cloudy. you’ll stay on top of your chores. your home will be neat and tidy. you’ll be happy and feeling cute and productive. but the depression will come back. the dishes will pile up. you’ll rewear clothes that were in the hamper but never made it to the washing machine. you’ll be tired, and your bed won’t get made, and not even the sunshine will make you feel better.
and you need to know that that’s okay. it’s okay to be depressed and to let it swallow you now and again. it’s a battle, always, and it’s okay if you don’t win every time. no matter how often it happens, it’s okay if you can’t keep up with chores and tasks and seeing friends because you can barely muster the energy to go to work. because eventually you’ll have to do dishes, and once they’re all clean you’ll feel a little better. and then you’ll wash your clothes and make your bed, and you’ll smile a little because it’s easier to think when your space is clean. you’ll work your way into that better state of mind again.
i promise

I’m going to get my mind right. I’m going to health right. I’m going to get my spirit right. I’m going to get my money right. I’m going to get right with God. I’m going to get right with all of the people in my life. I am going to get right. I am going to be alright.

depression tips™
shower. not a bath, a shower. use water as hot or cold as u like. u dont even need to wash. just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. sit on the floor if you gotta.
moisturize everything. use whatever lotion u like. unscented? dollar store lotion? fancy ass 48 hour lotion that makes u smell like a field of wildflowers? use whatever you want, and use it all over.
put on clean, comfortable clothes.
put on ur favorite underwear. cute black lacy panties? those ridiculous boxers u bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? put em on.
drink cold water. use ice. if u want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.
clean something. doesn’t have to be anything big. organize one drawer of ur desk. wash five dirty dishes. do a load of laundry. scrub the bathroom sink.
blast music. listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.
make food. don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. take the time and make food. even if it’s ramen. add something special to it, like a hard boiled egg or some veggies. prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.
make something. write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. even if you don’t think you’re good at it.
go outside. take a walk. sit in the grass. look at the clouds. smell flowers. put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.
call someone. call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. talk to a stranger on the street. have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. if you can’t, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. even if you don’t say much, listen to them.
cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them. take pictures of them. talk to them. tell them how u feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out.

G O A L S 📄 . Set yourself goals and you are way more likely to achieve and continue your journey. Write them down, stick them on your wall, keep them with you, make them your screen saver, look at the everyday. Do whatever it takes for you to meet your goals and make yourself happy. . My Christmas goals - 10 week plan. ⭐️ Lose 14 lbs (1stone) ⭐️ Run a 5K ⭐️ Work out 2x a week ⭐️ No binge weeks . Set achievable goals, ones you can actually meet. Setting yourself big goals in a small time frame opens your self up for failure. Failure leads to giving up and losing all your progress. Setting small achievable targets means you are way more likely to achieve them and you may even meet your goals early and achieve more than you set.

believe you can achieve at least one thing today whether it’s going to sleep early, eating that piece of fruit, walking for 10 minutes in the sun or getting that homework done before tomorrow. complete at least one goal, take your time, don’t rush. you matter
When your head hits the pillow tonight, remind yourself that you’ve done a good job. You are headed down your path at your own pace, and with every obstacle you are trying your utmost best. Be patient with yourself, and remember that big things are achieved not all at once, but one day at a time.
S L O W P R O G E S S I S S T I L L P R O G R E S S. . It doesn’t matter how slow you go , as long as you don’t stop. Don’t try to do everything over night because it will never happen. Instead focus on making one small change at a time. Overtime those small changes will add up to big transformations. It will be worth the wait I promise you. Don’t give up. . I have given up many a times or given up because the scales didn’t move even though I was on plan. Giving up is a waste of time and you will be even more unhappy. Every time I gave up it would lead to a big binge for a week or a month and I would be so miserable. I would be so annoyed at myself for everything I ate and hated myself and my body even more. . Some quit due to slow progress. Never grasping the fact that slow progress is still progress. . Don’t stop trying just because you have hit a wall. Progress is progress no matter how small. https://www.instagram.com/p/BoUWKrxA-6C/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=6fjupv8ehu2d
