Popping in for my yearly reminder to the internet that I am still alive. These photos sum up what I’ve been up to whilst I was gone.
After my Grandma died I went into her attic and tucked away in a battered suitcase was a manuscript- an entire novel that had been rejected by a publisher and presumably left quietly to one side ever since. I had no idea she was a writer! I’ve since found out that after suffering the most heartbreaking loss in her twenties she shut herself away for nearly a year and did nothing but write. I’m hoping that reading this will be a catharsis.
A common theme in my camera roll
I don’t take photographs as much as I did anymore, but I write now. It feels like such an intimate medium, which is why I stopped using this blog so much. I have started a newsletter, which you can subscribe to here. It is called the ‘The Land Fortnightly’, and every two weeks you’ll get a quiet and nostalgic piece, perhaps a rumination on the landscape, or a memory of home, sometimes a review of a walk. I hope some of you will join me there, I miss sharing my work.
I quit my job a while ago and have been living in a van travelling around Spain and Portugal, here is the view I had having lunch in Andalucia last week.
Some photos of our villa/dream house in Camogli, Italy. I’ve never before felt such an instantaneous sense of belonging
it’s almost 1am and I just stopped what I was doing because I remembered that these before and after photographs of mount st helens exist (and that even the most solid things can change/there is beauty in that)
It's me again, I wanted to show you this

I got drunk and ordered 12ft of artificial wisteria for my bedroom and it’s starting to feel like I live in a conservatory

Some photos of Kew Garden in the summer to try and make me forget that it is December
I was lucky enough to be able to leave London this weekend. The sea was just as perfect as I remembered.
