Yumi and the Nightmare painter is an excellent book, and not just because it is a romantasy written by Sanderson and it doesn't suck, but bc it points out that AI art can never replace true art made by humans.

im getting a little cynical reading spideypool fanfic stuff while reading the actual spider-man comics because. like. why isnt he Peter Parker??? why is he a 1-d bratty twink and nothing else? why does he have the god-like virtue and only-able-to-do-good personality deadpool falsely thinks he has?? why is deadpool allowed to tell jokes but he isnt? why is deadpool allowed to fuck up but he isnt? theyre both characters that mean so much, so why are we making peter a blank slate of Good Guy Who Is Annoyed With Deadpool and nothing else??? did we forget the reason he was shipped with dp in the first place?? did we forget that, while poking fun at deadpool, he also pokes fun at everything else because he doesnt know how to shut the fuck up either??? its not 'deadpool and random soft boy who can do no wrong' its deadpool and THEE *Peter Parker.* i love arrogant, snarky peter parker growing into his powers and feeling like the whole world is at his fingertips as he conquers highschool, i love tired photographer peter parker trying not to lose his dead end job at the daily bugle as every week someone new dies, i love haunted, destructive peter parker who realizes just how serious it is and just how little he can do while norman osborn settles over his shoulders like a physical weight, i love wonderstruck every-man peter parker seeing just how much the rest of the superhero community has that he never did, i love mellowed good-guy peter parker learning to help in smaller ways through his time as a science teacher and all of the matured, complex, less shallow imperfection he shows there in, i love autistic science nerd who doesn't get a single hint peter parker, i love peter parker when he always has a joke on his tongue because the alternative would be admitting none of this has ever been funny, i love cockroach peter parker who never, ever, stops even when his body is failing and his mind has gone fuzzy because he knows if he stops now he'll never start back up again. i love peter parker when he's alone in a rundown apartment after everyone he loves has died, starving on a too-small paycheck, and Still going out and fighting every night because he has always been Spider-Man and it is impossible for himself to find it in him to stop now.

I just watched Frankenstein (2025) and ohhhhh my Gooodddddd

It’s such a beautiful movie. It’s bittersweet in a wonderful way. I didn’t cry but I did feel immersed. The set design; the costuming; the colors; the acting; the ANIMALS!!! I’m not gonna guess how they did the wolves but the wolves look GREAT!!

I won’t spoil the movie, but AUGH!!! It’s a wonderful movie. Again, it’s very bittersweet, but it’s done so brilliantly that I 100% consider it worth the melancholic mood at the end.

I’m tempted to call it a 10/10, but that might be due to first-time exposure bias. Even so, I definitely think this movie’s something special, so we’ll see how it goes. I’m for sure rewatching this tomorrow, if I can!

Anyway, I just want to say this is not a safe space for that toxic absurd brand of animal rights weirdo who have found my post. I think hunting is fine if it is done sustainably. I don’t think it is inherently unethical to rear and use domesticated animals for the purposes of consumption, clothing, laboratory testing, medical products, etc. I do not think having pets is morally wrong. I think you can be an animal lover and worry about their welfare and husbandry practices and still acknowledge that the lives of humans are more important than the lives of animals. Animals are not us. I grew up spending a lot of time at my grandparents farm and I know chickens would eat us if the roles were reversed. Humans believing their lives are worth more than the lives of animals is natural as animals generally value their lives over those of other animals and, occasionally, humans. Forcing human morality, ideas of longevity and self determination on animals is generally cruel.
