Hey, any recommendations for someone who is starting to listen to classical music?
Hard to know where to start. I kind of started out with big names and eventually grew out from there. I did make a playlist on spotify of some favorites that Iād use to share with people who are new to the genre, you can check it out here. In this ask I will list a couple that Iād say to check out first. I got into classical through piano, but will try to hold back on dumping a lot of piano music at once, for variation:
- Rachmaninoff, Piano Concerto no.2, mov. 1, an awesome concerto that has great melodies and fun drama,
- Chopin, Prelude no.24 in d minor, a really fun work thatās stormy and has a lot of pianistic flair
- Ravel, String Quartet mov.2, opens with really cool textures, and has a very fluid melody. In general Ravel is the bomb.com
- Tchaikovsky, Orchestral Suite no.1, introduction and fugueā¦not one of his most popular works but idk I LOVE the orchestral suites. The opening is reallyĀ āmysteriousā and feels like nighttime
- Bach, Fantasia and Fugue in g minorā¦.pretty dramatic and intense, rich organ music. Also the fugue is a bit more lighthearted with a catchy rhythm
- Vivaldi, Trio Sonata in d minorā¦a set of variations onĀ āLa Foliaā which is one of the oldest melodies in music history, here Vivaldi makes it lively and intense at parts
- Liszt, Hungarian Rhapsody no.6, a very fun work in three parts; a grand intro, a more somber middle, and then a very fun and capricious ending
- Beethoven, Symphony 7, mov.2ā¦..of course I canāt *not* recommend Beethoven. You may have heard this before somewhere in pop culture, itās a fantastic movement from his 7th symphony, a dramatic build up over a repeating chord progression. Very cool.
i have never seen someone with such a nonexistent grasp of food in my life. there is virtually nothing here that makes any sense or works. this is like watching a toddler being given unfettered access to a kitchen and mashing everything they find together.
the way that this person opens the fucking dorito bag SIDEWAYS with scissors and carefully places each chip with tongs as if theyāre making real food is an affront to common decency and has to be stopped.
i bet itās fuckin delicious too
