Before chase became a monk he was just some boy on the streets that sold apples. Everyday guan would try to talk to him but when he'd get there he'd be too tongue tied to say anything. In the end all he could do was buy an apple. As kids guan had an obvious crush on him, but chase was oblivious so it was ok.
