Where you direct your attention creates your life experiences, and brings a new course of events into being. Where you habitually put your attention is what you worship. The concept of friends vs family

Love when it comes to something other than a lover is a funny concept really isn't it. How do u define the love of a family? Unconditional? All encompassing? Obligatory? Forced even? Then likewise how do u define the love of a true friend, do they not honour the word more? There is no obligation simply choice? But do they unconditionally? Is that even a real concept? How do you define the value placed on that? With a lover it's everything, when you find the right person it's almost to the point of overwhelming, powerful and life affirming. The comparison is a difficult one to make, particularly with family it can be fluid, ever changing, evolving, growing even but with friendship that's a bond developed over time. I truly have one friend like that in the world, loved to the point of being a brother but how do you define that, how do you compare or explain that? Is it worth more because it's earnt, it's choice it's challenging or is that a misguided concept, family (well some) stick together through thick and thin, unconditionally love and accept each other. Though I suppose the concept itself is in fact fluid due to the very nature of individuality and what we all value most in a 'loving' relationship, whether that be friends, family, lovers even pets Random ponderings for debate...

Motorways

Have you ever spent time looking out the window on a long drive? Obviously being a driver I don't tend to be able to actually do much of the looking around, unless the you mean just the road itself as i drive! But on a drive to Manchester today I was lucky enough to be the passenger, I found myself forgetting how much I love people watching until now. Particularly motorways, have you ever seen a more varied mix of people, passions, cultures, loves, dynamics? I can spend 30 seconds looking out the window and see everything from the married sleazy guy checking himself out in the mirror of his immaculately maintained 9/11, the single mother desperately trying to keep her tiny child occupied in her barely held together beetle. Then within seconds of seeing that turn and see a young love couple with it all ahead, heartbreak, soul mates, Kids, family whole 9 yards? But who knows, it doesn't even matter, in that moment that's who they are. Right now they're living it. Then right over to the elderly couple, the one I've just seen a great example, two guys laughing, joking holding each other's hand, who knows what they had to go through to get there, who knows what's coming tomorrow. It doesn't matter Sometimes we all need some cheer in our life. I think my point is just look out the window. We all know the motorway... Limbo between our final destinations, the waiting room if you will. But if we can find something to look out and smile at here perhaps that's all we need to do. Just look out the window a bit more often.....

To look out over all that death and destruction. The desolation is devastating. A petrified sea of what once was. This image has haunted me for years.
