Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War is a game filled to the brim with tragedy; such misfortune includes the fate of Quan, the crown prince of the kingdom Leonster. Although generally level-headed, his staunch loyalty towards his friends and loved ones (Symbolized via golden/yellow roses) cloud his judgment, leading to an untimely end.
His fealty proves fatal when he leads half of his kingdom’s army, including his wife Ethlyn, across the Yied Desert to provide his friend Sigurd with reinforcements. Unfortunately, a squadron of wyvern knights ambush and annihilate his forces. Not only does this mark Quan’s downfall, but that of his kingdom simultaneously, as taking such a large portion of its guard left it vulnerable to invasion.
Ultimately, Quan’s loyalty and hubris made for another tragic chapter in Genealogy’s story.
