Make it vegan and we've got a deal!
Mainlining secret truths of the universe and beer can arts and crafts! I really spent almost an entire day making a bunch of these guys watching True Detective.
Awww thanks wine!! <333
Just one of my many talents
Got an early Yule gift today! Be jealous of my new drink traveling abilities!
Optimism, pessimism, and realism all in one
This...
The Groove Pretty well rounded wine at The Mystery Box with wine partner BK. This was post industry wine & spirit tasting and I was thankful to get some more wine, it left me wanting more. All and all a good wine though, I'm certainly not one to turn down vino, it was just a little too tart for my taste. Tartness and my own taste buds aside, this record is a sophisticated red blend but reasonably priced and easy drinking for any Red Queen. It's also made at a small, local winery Des Voigne Winery and I love their philosophy that wine is music in a bottle. Side note: my nails look good in this so the vain side of me decided it warranted a couple pictures.
Alice Fell Down The Rabbit Hole
So, I got to live a lush's dream yesterday. The Southern Wine and Spirits Industry tasting.
It was huge and damn near overwhelming but so rewarding. Thank Dionysus for wine industry connections to land me a guest invite to this extraordinary event! (Or rather my new wine partner "BK" for giving up his spot and suggesting I go. Either way, score!)
Now, let me tell you dear readers, there were more tastings than even I could sample. Even though I was there for a few hours, I could only manage so many but my guide, Elvis, was incredibly helpful at pointing out which ones were must sips and which I could pass on.
Soooo much wine....
I'll have to review specific wines for you all later but there were plenty of familiar bottles as well (some even already reviewed on here!). No surprise considering Southern is one of the largest distributors in the states.
The main thing I was trying to do was get the gist of everything and not look like a complete idiot doing so. Seriously. When I'm among friends I come across like "miss wine expert". When among actual experts, distributors, etc? I look like a babbling drunkard who's laughing way too much.
Yet, I pressed on and tried not to say anything too stupid.
Tried.
Most everyone was pleasant and kind to me and some even excited about the prospect of being mentioned in this blog. So there's another plus!
I probably tried at least forty or more wines (at least!) before moving on to the spirits (for real now, who could resist?).
And these are just a couple of the bad boys, there was plenty of liquor to go around
I'm glad I waited until closer to the end before diving in the spirits because I don't think I would've stood too well on my high heeled feet much longer after that. This was also when I decided to stop spitting what I was tasting so I was getting a fun little party in my stomach that would make normal people toss their cheese and crackers...but not I! (However, I will confess that I did break my veganism for a few pieces of cheese, the wine made me. Elvis said that what happens at tastings stays at tastings yet I felt the need to confess it anyway...but that's all I'm confessing ha-ha)
All in all this was a great experience and I truly hope I can do this again and soon. Perhaps even start looking for employment in a field that would push my wine and spirit knowledge even further. Wouldn't that be a hit? Alice seeks job in Wine-o land?
Dream big!
I did get to take home some tequila samples and wine swag though!

Sometimes you just need to take a break, pour yourself some wine and just dance around in your underwear.
