I couldn't decide which one looked better, so I'm posting both 🤔
Part 3/3 - Chapter 6 of my Monster sequel comic. It reads from right to left.
Part 3 of 3 of Chapter 6 of my Monster sequel comic.
You can find part 1 and 2 here.
This chapter touches on some sensitive themes. I wanted to portray a criminal without sugarcoating him by giving him only a minor crime, so I tried to think of something that would genuinely horrify me. I apologize in advance if I may not have handled the subject with the sensitivity it deserves.
With this chapter, I wanted to show Johan's point of view and what drives him.
I drew these pages a few years ago, so please forgive the occasional awkward-looking drawings. Looking back, I think I could have done a better job conveying Johan's more ambiguous expressions. I hope my intentions still come across.
This is where I finally lay my cards on the table. In my interpretation, the key to any possible redemption for Johan in this comic would be Tenma and Nina. But it wouldn't be easy, because people don't change that easily. And, of course, there's also the question of how Yvonne (the librarian from the canon) will react when (if I ever manage to get there) she discovers the truth about Johan, since at this point she has absolutely no idea who he really is.

Dieter and Tenma by the river.
The landscape is taken from “The Yerres, effect of rain” by Gustave Caillebotte.
I wanted to do another study of an impressionist painting since I really love them and I added a touch of Monster, another of my great passions. 😁
A page featuring Johan I just finished for chapter 9 of my comic. I feel I'm even slower with digital, weird 🤔
Reading 20th Century Boys made me wonder what Johan would be like decades later. 🤔🤔
I found myself thinking: "What if one day someone met a middle-aged man and then discovered that man was Johan?" Or something along those lines.
As usual, the woman is the librarian from the canon, Yvonne in my headcanon.
I made a figure of Josuke and Yasuho.
I wanted a figure of them but I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one myself 😅
The Fall of the brothers
I recently read the Marmalade Boy manga and was surprised I liked it so much, since I used to dislike the anime when I was a kid.
It’s one of those series that made me think, “I wish I were as good as this author.” Every now and then I get these bittersweet feelings with stories that really stick with me.
This is my first attempt at drawing Yuu.
I’ll probably draw more, because the series has stuck with me.
Johan and the librarian
Nina Anna Fortner Liebert (a name like a duchess, lol).
I had drawn her before but I don’t know why, while I was drawing her this time, it really struck me that she looks exactly like Johan! 😅 Beauty twins
Someone is drunk.
Lotte is annoyed that they interrupted her date with Karl 🙈
My favorite profiler and detective
It’s a drawing from at least a year ago, inspired by a canon-compliant dream. Johan was leaving, as he often does in the manga, and Yvonne wanted to follow him, but he told her not to.
Every time I dream of them within the Monster canon, Johan is always trying to avoid Yvonne and is shocked to see her following him, lowering his gaze and all while she tries to confront him about what he’s doing.
In one dream, for example, Johan appeared on a talk show as a political or business figure, secretly carrying out one of his shady plans, and Yvonne was in the audience. When he noticed her, he immediately averted his gaze.
Experimenting a bit with different techniques. The composition is taken from Eliseu Visconti’s self-portrait.
