As a writing/poem-writing two-day warm-up, I decided to translate Menishuki Rush since it didn't have an official English translation from Cygames and I have yet to see a fan-made one. I shouldn't have.

If you wanna experience the struggle (or fun if that's your style), definitely translate a non-English song to English while keeping the meter, intent, and soundplay intact while not making it sound weird bc of weird stress placements.

I used to complain about "bad" localizations that missed one of those three. But, you see, there's a delicate balance between these three. I'll use my translation as an example: Original line:

わたしと一体全体 いやゼッタイ！ シンデレラフィットなのは そう、キミ Translation (by moi):

You and me, together forever—for sure! Together we fit just like Beauty and The Beast! The original uses "Cinderella Fit" (シンデレラフィット) as a way of saying the singer and the audience (you) are a perfect fit. However, when I tried translating it... Idk maybe it was because I was only eating porridge that day, but I couldn't find a way to fit it into the meter while kind of sounding like kimi (キミ). I had to either sacrifice meter, soundplay, and potentially a good stress placement just to keep the intent the same, or follow all those three with a deficit to the original intent. To try and keep the vibe, I replaced it with another fairy tale, but it still changed the context on the original.

I was legit panicking because of this single fking line, but then I thought, "Hey, the official translators completely mixed up the lyrics's context in Umapyoi Densetsu's official translators, so surely I can allow myself a little leeway." Hence, I ended up with this.

My translation is provided below. Feel free to use it (with credits), although I doubt it's good for actually singing. Again, feedback and constructive criticism is always appreciated.

TL;DR: I don't think I have the right to complain about bad JP song translations anymore
