hot take: queen of air and darkness was an awesome and excellent book that was just marketed incorrectly. because of this marketing people had expectations that were unmet of a “grand finale” and instead got a wonderful book that expanded upon the world and introduced and set up the wicked powers. as a result people didn’t like it as much as it was due. the poor ratings are not the fault of the book itself but instead the result of terrible marketing and poorly thought through hype created by the publisher.

Okay, so based on your headcanon, I want to know how Baby Carstairs factors into Kitty’s love confession. How old is she when it happens? What is it she says?

She’s 4 when she starts seeing Ty more often. She likes him pretty much, he’s beautiful and shows her all sorts of cool things!

She’s usually quite observant even if she’s a child, she notices Ty is special, not only because he is a centurion, big and strong (he’s so tall!), but also there’s something different about him, not in a weird way. She likes him.

She also notices Kit always watches Ty when he’s distracted. Kit’s eyes sparkles somehow, they become a more intense blue and he blushes. That is weird.

One day, she’s alone with Ty and he is showing her the differences between two snails, once he’s finished she looks up at him and says “Kitty looks at you like my mum looks at my dad” Ty is speechless and it doesn’t take much for him to understand. A child’s mind works in a direct sort of way he much appreciates.

When he’s alone with Kit, then, he straightforward looks at him and asks “do you look at me like Tessa looks at Jem?” Kit almost breaks a plate by letting it fall from his hands. And that is the first time they talk about feelings.
