I'm doing a reread of TDA and in Lady Midnight there is a scene that I simply love, when Emma shows Cristina the Blackthorns' rooms and tells her about them, with so much love and appreciation. After so many years since I read the book, I can better appreciate how Emma found her place in the world with the Blackthorns, despite having lost her parents so young. It feels even deeper when she tells Julian that he has given her everything, including a family.
