i learned that in August 2014 Women’s Voices for the Earth commissioned testing of four types of Always menstrual pads, manufactured by Procter & Gamble. The certified laboratory STAT Analysis Corporation analyzed the products for volatile organic compound.

“The results of the testing indicate that both scented and unscented Always pads emit toxic chemicals, including chemicals identified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Toxicology Program, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, and the State of California Environmental Protection Agency as carcinogens, and reproductive and developmental toxins. None of these chemicals are disclosed on the product by the manufacturer.” (x)

I switched to dye free fancy cotton pads, after years of having periods so fucking bad I would sometimes faint, and now i just get like. regular cramps occasionally, they’re not even that bad anymore.

i switched back to these after using fancy organic cotton pads during my most recent period & they caused PROBLEMS out of the blue - 100% confirmed, these are not good to use

been using these reusable menstrual pads since november 2019 and im never going back to these commercial pads. commercial pads like these always gives me skin rashes which is so annoying. switch to reusable i swear you’ll not only be period-ready but also rashes-free!

Yeah, reusable pads were one of my first major eco-friendly changes but my body has been way happier that way. They are infinitely more comfortable and effective, and I just throw them in my washing machine on the hand wash + extra rinse and hang dry. I can’t say being on your period is ever pleasant, but it’s way better than before - ESPECIALLY in situations where you can’t change as often - and I don’t feel like the harbinger of the end of the world when I look at my restroom trash can anymore :)

Cariona pads (link above) are AWESOME. Don’t knock it til you try it - I’ll never go back to always pads. My period is, like, manageable, for the first time in my life. It is no longer a struggle with excruciating cramps, heavy bleeding, leakage, and looooong periods, but like, mild to medium cramps, and I HAVE A CYCLE AGAIN for the first time in years. Try it. The upfront cost is daunting, I understand, because I was worried I wouldn’t like them, but I’m SO GLAD I got them. Just toss them in bottom of your shower when you take them off, shower as usual, and then squeeze them out. That basically rinses them for you, and then they’re all set for the washer and dryer. You’ll thank yourself later; give it a try.

Cariona pads are amazing and they are SO cute. Like @maybeitsfinallytime was saying, they’re really easy to rinse out, and I usually hang them over my shower rod to dry so I can reuse them during the cycle, then give them a proper wash in hot water with a little sanitizing detergent afterwards.

Like this sounds wild but like. hear me out. a person is such a ridiculously infinitely complicated web of thoughts and feelings and beliefs and such an unbelievably huge amount of knowledge and the idea that you can destroy that by holding a pillow over someone's face for three minutes is absolutely surreal. The idea that you can remove knowledge and emotion and memory from the world with a physical object is literally unbelievable. people are literally infinitely huge and complex and the fact that you can kill the person by killing the body is wild. AHHH im so happy this is back in my dash!! i bought their trial pack months ago because its the cheapest option for me to try all their sizes. interestingly, im 5ft and 45kg and their liner to overnight sizes fit me best. their xl tho is “long” for me so i gave it to my older sister and she loves it. upon trying these pads, i immediately bought 5 more liners, 10 more regulars and 5 more overnights (im a hoarder at heart) and i feel like im set for life. not gonna lie though the patterns they have are super cute (especially when they released the animal crossing pack) so i kept buying more. i mean in the end where best to invest my money but myself right?

ive been seeing this ad a lot and was skeptical so i emailed them asking about their products and spoke to someone named julie. she patiently and honestly answered every single question i had, recommended which size would fit me best, and she even let me pick my own patterns because i am not a fan of pink/girly colors. i received my order in 3 days and their pads are definitely great in quality but accommodating customer service like this is a big plus for me into buying more from this company

Ladies, Y'all GOTTA try this brand out. I bought the starter pack and have used one regular and one overnight so far (just started my period). ONE regular pad lasted me roughly 12 hours on my first day, including through an 1.5 hr long lift (deadlifts, leg presses) and 20 min stretch session with lots of twisting. One overnight pad lasted me another 14ish hours including half of those hours being on the infamous Day Two, a 30 min walk, and another 20 min stretching session. Will be purchasing some more regulars and overnights, and some XLs which I don’t have yet. Trying the liner size on day five which is normally super light for me. Stay tuned for more reviews. (I have two pairs of thinx that I’m using too so this will be my first completely tampon-and-disposable-pad FREE period)

@wifecaroldanvers please keep us posted with your period journey! i initially wanted to try thinx but saw reviews of it leaking (x) and smelling (x) even after wash. not to mention one piece is $39 but with these pads, their trial pack is $29.99 and their five piece is $34.99. thinx is just too expensive for me to try so if you think the pads can hold, please do let us know as i would love to invest in reusable products

I use these! I bought the starter pack with liners, pads, and the overnight ones and they have been wonderful. The company frequently has sales— I got the starter pack for under $30 I think, with like 10% off? And it had 5 total in it.

I’ve been using them for about a year now, and have had absolutely no issues with smell or leaking. I work out with them too and haven’t had any issues! Would highly recommend
