Day Trippers, Davide Bonazzi

Davide Bonazzi is a freelance illustrator from Bologna, Italy. Davide aims to create clever visual solutions to represent complex topics, as well as narrative, witty images. His style combines digital media with textures of scanned found objects, in order to give his illustrations a warm and evocative atmosphere.

From the artist: I was inspired by a trip I took to New York City last year. I’ve always been fascinated by elderly people as subject of stories. Their slow, quiet way of living is all the opposite of the frenetic life most people live. By contrast, I tried to emphasize this quietness by setting the story in a big chaotic and crowded city, which could be NYC or another megalopolis. I wanted to illustrate the reactions of an elderly, quiet couple from a small town visiting the largest city of the country.

this is what plays when you’re dying and your life is flashing before your eyes

I was on vacation in Croatia last week with a friend from work and her cousin. I enjoyed every moment and fell in love with that place, it was beautiful and so much fun! This week I’m doing a “staycation” where I’m home doing whatever I want. Yesterday I unpacked, cleaned, and went to my friend’s house to catch up. Today I’m going to lounge by the pool, maybe read, sign up for a dating app (☹️), and then take my best friend out to dinner for her birthday!

I’m enjoying this nonscheduled life a little too much, it’s going to be hard to go back to work next week.
