Foremost, we are Minerva : a Balmung-based FC comprised of like-minded, positive individuals with our focus upon providing a lighthearted, tight-knit community for our members to enjoy both in-game activities and good company.
We enjoy many aspects of FFXIV together and strive to create a helpful environment for our members, covering a broad range of ventures from current patch content, trials & raiding, to casual roleplay & leveling alike.
We possess both an airship and an FC house, located in the Lavender Beds that provides several settings ( and more, soon! ) for future IC events and gatherings.
What are we looking for?
We hope to expand our in-game family with those of a similar mindset - that the game is to be enjoyed and treated as leisure time, without conflict and stress. Involvement in the roleplay community is a plus, though not mandatory.
As a group, we place much emphasis on extending a helping hand among our community. Therefore, active participation is expected ; it may come in many forms, and we like to keep the circle going.
Interested?
Please visit our recruitment page at our website, and fill out the short application. Our officers will review it as soon as possible, and will contact you with the status thereafter.
[Losttilde] A Letter! There's a well-drawn sketch of the person who sent the letter in front of a location-- apparently the docks of Gridania-- and the words "If you want an ass kicking, come here in ten minutes."
This is Luther requesting you spell "swindle" you illiterate trash-heap. P.S. STOP TRYING TO SELL MY BOYFRIEND FUCKING CAT LITTER; WE DO NOT NEED YOUR CHEAP ASS MIX OF SAND AND COTTON CANDY THAT YOU OVERPRICE
“ One thing that pisses me off is when I'm in a duty with other people and someone gets disconnected from the game and as soon as the opportunity presents itself, people are vote kicking said person who has disconnected. They don't even give this person a few minutes to log back in.
Now, for myself, I suggest waiting five minutes... For me with a PS3, that's plenty of time to get back into the game, even when my system has pulled the "I'm going to freeze on you" bit. Anyways, this vote kicking people as soon as you wipe to refill the spot is not only rude, but it's creating bitterness between players. But here's something else to consider:
I was in a A3 with two of my friends. I'm a healer... And they are both tanks. One of my friends got disconnected, and we ended up wiping before he could get back online. I said, "He'll be right back." But as soon as someone could, they popped the vote kick. But, I was quicker. I said "Just a word of warning, if you vote kick the tank, you will lose your other tank, and a healer."
Tl;dr: moral of the story, make sure you know who's partied up in DF before you go kicking someone's friend, and you end up losing your tanks and healer, Lmao. “
tandrisong This seems to be a huge problem in any collaborative game community, especially MMORPGs. I've had my fair share of being on the receiving end of vote kicks across a wide variety of games and it's really depressing to reconnect only to find you've been removed. You already feel bad enough for disconnecting and the experience as a whole is generally anxiety inducing. Those few minutes having to reconnect can be hell for a lot of people and being on the receiving end of a kick can gradually make a person gun shy (or duty finder shy in this instance) to the point where group play is no longer fun because you don't want to be a burden if you happen to disconnect at an inconvenient time. It's a shame because you desperately want to join in but it's so stressful not knowing what your internet/pc/console may or may not do. Not everyone has or can afford a good computer and/or console and not everyone has access to high speed internet. Is your fellow player at fault for this and should they be punished by being kicked out of the group when they're just trying to do the content same as you? No.
I have an excellent gaming pc but I just so happen to live in a rural area and as such good, stable internet options are incredibly limited. You can either pay a company hundreds of dollars a month for 'home business class' broadband or if you're really in the sticks and really unlucky your only provider may be a shitty company like Hughes Satellite which caps out at 30GB a month and is terrible for gaming to begin with (that high satellite ping yo). For me personally I squeeze by with a questionably shaky mobile broadband USB through Sprint that on average gets about the same speed as dial up, sometimes better sometimes worse. My internet is at the mercy of the weather and the internet gods. A cloud in the sky? It's slightly windy? Someone sneezed down in town? Oh no, can't game today! There have been plenty of times where my connection has been fine all day with solo play up until the point I enter a dungeon and that extra bit of data incoming loves to overload my connection whether by making it unplayable with ridiculously high ping or just straight up disconnecting me in the middle of a fight. Some days I have no problems doing group play, as mentioned above, I'm at the mercy of whatever my internet feels like doing that day. People have become so impatient that they can't wait a couple minutes for someone to reconnect. In the end we all disconnect eventually somewhere, nobody is exempt from this and as stated in the original post, consider just who you're kicking and who they might be playing with.
I have to admit I laugh when people kick me or try to when I’m catching up on content and haven’t run it before. NO BONUS FOR YOU.
tl;dr: A lot of people take for granted what they have, whether that be high speed internet access or a console or PC they can game on comfortably without worry that it may suddenly decide to freeze. Nobody should be getting kicked out of a group because they have connection issues or a less than ideal setup to game on. If you know you have a shaky connection and you're worried it might be an issue, mention it! Most people are chill and understanding and won't mind if you give them a heads up. You deserve to have fun too!
I’d love to get some asks going on this blog and potentially do some sketches in response! Your local illiterate pirate and kitty litter tycoon asks are open, both OOC and IC questions are welcome just be sure to specify if it’s out of character or in!
P.S: Swindlin’ SELLING SOME LITTER. Sagolii Desert Scent and Black Shroud Pine Aroma are in stock! I promise I won’t swindle you out of every piece of Gil you possess.
Hey everyone, just wanted to give you all a quick update before I head to bed (early morning driving to the airport!). I have been quite absent the past couple months due to a combination of house remodels and a friend flying in from out of state to visit me! I’ll be jumping back into the community to swindle you all of your loot fairly soon. In the meantime here are some photos from our hike in Yosemite!
