Making this list, it surprises me that Dark Souls isn't here in any form, but I couldn't think of a game to remove, and even then it would have to beat out Sniper Elite 5, Titanfall 2, Slime Rancher, Watchdogs, Watchdogs 2, Dying Light, Dying Light 2, Unpacking, Ghost Runner, Hitman Contracts, Saints Row 2, and Crossout, not necessarilly in that order.

There are so many things I want to put on this list, too, but it sucks that it's a top ten. Like, I wanna add Gravity Rush, Burnout Paradise, NFS Most Wanted 2012, Super Hot, Vampire Survivors, Mini Metro, Ridge Racer 2, Just Cause 3, Far Cry 3, Battlefield 5, No Time To Explain, Theif: The Dark Project, Deus Ex Game Of The Year edition, Slay the Spire, and so mant others, but it's specifically a top ten, and even then ranking all these games next to eachother would be so hard.

I felt a bit mischievous earlier, so I posted my chittoris on this transphobic subreddit (they literally ban trans people). I figured that they would like instantly ban me, but instead, they were complimenting it. Someone asked me why it was glowing/had things sticking to it. I replied back with this detailed explanation about how raccoon genitals work and explained how since I’m a cyborg raccoon girl, it only makes sense that my baubellum is magnetic.

They were oddly normal about it. I’m literally still not banned from there and no one even tried calling me out for being transgender. At this point it just feels awkward. So anyways, today I learned that transphobes are more capable of acting normal about someone with raccoon genitals than they are about a transgender woman. Not sure what to make out of that….

Unironically I think the early to mid 20s age group in America has unbelievably bad consent boundaries on all levels and so much language to defend it but this makes me sound like elon musk if I say it however the commonality of someone who will be like “I had 47 panic attacks and it’s your fault” if you tell them no is insane

When I was in this age bracket, there was a huge emphasis on improving consent culture via graceful rejection, and it's gone by the wayside. Which sucks.

Twice in my youth (once in high school and once in college) I was in situations where I was asking someone out and I could tell they were calculating in their heads the risks of rejecting me, and both times I said, out loud, "you can say no, I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't prepared for either answer." And then they said no. This wasn't some spark of special wisdom I had - I knew to do it because feminist conversations among my age group brought it up regularly. This isn't happening nearly enough anymore.

More recently, I was really glad when we got to "rejection sensitive dysphoria" in my IOP program and it was one of those symptoms where the therapists really emphasized how it affects others. Because it does.

Being someone who cannot handle rejection makes you much more likely to violate boundaries, and yes, that includes sexual ones. Yes, you, reader who has never hurt a fly. If you don't want to stumble backwards into sexually assaulting someone, fix your RSD meltdowns. If you keep them up it's only a matter of time. Because if you're nice enough to interact with, but are known to have RSD meltdowns, guess what happens when your friends and acquaintances need to reject you?

like many people have said this better than me but no it IS odd that we've come to think of potatoes as so quintessentially european that their presence in historical fantasy where they're anachronistic doesn't jar. and yes people are trying to have the trappings of post-colonial europe without engaging w the icky colonialism part and yes people are neglecting to imagine what a european cuisine without potatoes would be like.

perhaps a good way to sum up the issue here is:

if you put potatoes in your medieval european style fantasy world people will by and large not find it jarring and accept it as a normal fantasy trope

if you put, say, black people in your medieval european style fantasy world a whole demographic of people will get very angry and accuse you of breaking their immersion

this is in spite of the fact that black people were a lot more common in medieval europe than potatoes.

Every time I make a post speaking negatively about the present GOP or insinuate that the Democratic Party might be the lesser of the two evils we are forced to decide between, immediately someone shows up to say ‘both sides bad though’. Like. Okay. And? And what are you going to do about it? Refuse to participate in democracy just because you’re waiting for the revolution? Let them both do whatever? I got so much shit during the election when I was trying to encourage people to vote for Kamala and look where we are now. Honestly? I will always choose the lesser of two evils and let there be blood on my hands instead of standing back and allowing evil to take its course. I’ve made a choice, not a permanent one, less of an endorsement of the Democratic Party and more of an acknowledgment of the fascist Christian nationalist views of the current GOP. Both sides bad, both sides similar, the left in America is more like the center right in a lot of other countries, I’m aware of this, it is important to attempt to minimize harm until the problem can be solved.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
