“All that fighting and you never learned how to duck?”
Happy birthday to Junior over here
Wymack deserves to know that after Baltimore, all the Foxes slept in the same room. That these nine utterly unsociable, abandoned outcasts, supposedly incapable of forming real connections and constantly accused of ruining team spirit. all, without a single word, decided to stay together, afraid to leave Neil alone. Realizing that, for the first time, they actually WANTED to be together. Wymack deserves to know that he managed to build a strong, loyal family out of people no one else ever believed in. Wymack deserves to know that his “I’m willing to give you twenty chances” was worth it.
Today Jeremy will upload a tiktok with the caption: "In your early 20s you will get a call from a friend asking if you're willing to take a Raven defensemen for your Exy team. It is very important that you say yes" and the next picture is Jerejean wedding
Andrew posting a reply that just says "Instructions unclear, results may vary" and it is a slideshow of Kevin drunk and asleep in increasingly insane places / poses.
thinking about how the monsters get ice cream before they go to edens. i know they originally started going to sweeties for cracker dust but they could easily just eat dinner while theyre there instead of getting ice cream. but no, they want a little sweet treat before clubbing. thats so cute. everyone calls them monsters and theyre just over here with ice cream sundaes for their family night out. adorable little losers
During the end of Kevin's last year in Palmetto, Wymack starts putting Neil and Kevin on Court at different times (instead of togheter) so that Neil can get more used to not having Kevin on the court with him
Needless to say, both of them hate It with a burning passion
Kevin whines about how everyone is too slow and they are never where he needs them to be(that Neil always is goes unsaid). Neil whines about how the underclassman can never really understand what he is thinking(that Kevin always understands also goes unsaid)
The first game in which they actually end up not playing togheter at any point is a hell for the Foxes, since they both make It everybody's problem. At the end of It, even though the Foxes won, Kevin and Neil are both in a faul mood, to say the least.
Both are, honest to God, POUTING, with their arms crossed, glaring daggers at Wymack, who is asking every deity in existence for patience
Andrew looks at this scene, sighs heavily, turns to Wymack and says "I told you, they are like co-dependent guinea pigs. We are lucky neither collapsed out of sadness for not being togheter"
After that, they both have at least 5 minutes of guaranteed time to play togheter per game, but the Guinea pig joke becomes a thing among the Foxes
Andrew starts to say he is going to take Kevin and Neil for enrichment time at the enclosure whenever he is taking them both to night practice
sad times
Thinking about Jean being called Jean Valjean by Andrew
Jean Valjean, a character enslaved in a prision for 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread
Jean Moreau, who was 19 at the time and had never known freedom in any way
Jean Valjean, who was sentenced 5 years in prison at first
Jean Moreau, who was in Evermore for 5 years at that point
Both left to rot in a hell like place, treated as subhuman, saved by the kindness of someone they barely or didnt know
I am probably overthinking It, but okay
one thing i particularly love about kevin day is that despite all his trauma, pain, grief and guilt he's never really lost his confidence, his self worth. like they took everything from him but they couldn't gaslight him to the point of thinking he's the second best bc that mf always knew he's that bitch. he knows he's better than rico, he knows he's the one and only real son of exy, he knows he's expensive, he knows ppl listen to him and devotedly follow him, he knows he's smart and beautiful, he knows he can allow himself to be arrogant bc he's deserved it, he knows he can enter a building and charm everyone, he knows the stadiums will go absolutely wild just at the motion of his hand. and once they came after that very hand to indefinitely put him down he's bitten back and raised from the ashes to fully claim his throne, the best of the best, the Queen, the GOAT. you just can't take that away from him, "checkmate". and i think this is why he rubs certain ppl the wrong way bc they can't self insert or empathise with that. bc yes he's damaged but goddamn he's not insecure. he's a victim who doesn't act in a traditional way, who keeps his head high, and believes life is worth it, for himself and for others. and to me, that's what makes kevin day an inspirational, important character to have in dark books, the flawed hero, but hero nevertheless.
as seen on the fox’s lounge wall
after the ravens truly fall (probably in the wake of all the suicides and the investigations by the erc) the nest is dismantled as edgar allen wipes itself clean of its exy program.
when this happens kevin is sent a box with memorabilia that once lined the hallways of evermore. his moms first jersey, photos of her playing and coaching, awards, etc.
but the most precious thing in the box were things nobody had ever seen before. tapes upon tapes of kayleigh's old game plays, sport development interviews, training camps, her playing with wymack, and most precious to kevin, tapes of her teaching him to play. he has no idea how they got to evermore, when they were clearly filmed in ireland, but he asks for help getting them digitiezed and watches them all the time. sometimes he and his dad watch them together, remembering the woman they both loved.
AFTG Timeline

So in sports, it's possible for particularly skilled players to pull off unprecedented moves such that the entire sport's rulebook has to be updated to accommodate.
A player pulls some ridiculous move and everyone is in a flurry of "is this allowed?? Does this count?? Should we make this an illegal move??? Should it be a legal move??? What do we do about this, hurry before other players try to copy him!"
I'm aware of it happening once for basketball (though I don't recall the specific game changing event).
Anyway, Andrew Joseph Minyard is the first goalie to score a point for his team. Someone tries to score on him and he shoots that shit all the way into the other goalies zone and that shit lights up red. The game practically stops moving, the crowd is quiet for all of two heart beats before everyone fucking loses their shit. The stadium is shaking so hard might as well register as a small earthquake. Rulebook gets consulted expeditiously. Due to it not being referenced at all as a possibility, it's not technically an illegal move. Andrew's point stands.
They make that shit illegal thereafter, though. Making Andrew not only the first goalie to score a point across the field, but the last.
It puts him in the hall of fame.
It also gets him laid.
“What would it take to make you stay?”
ANDREW MINYARD. WHOEVER CLAIMED YOU DIDN’T CARE WAS A LYING LIAR WHO LIES
