Hello!

If you’re based in NYC and struggle to find a place to play D&D or maybe you’ve always wanted to play but don’t know how - I have a solution for you!

I organize bipoc and queer run D&D sessions in Brooklyn for people who have never touched a character sheet or are looking for more people to play with in the community.

We have a table every other Tuesday from 8-10pm and some other events that run in the month (including an intro to D&D class). We try to keep everything as accessible as possible with all of our play sessions being PWYC starting at $1 :)

I think there’s a high chance next season adult melissa and shauna are going to get back together , for how much the writers set up melissa as just trying to be normal and move on her killing Van really showed that deep down she could never truly do that , and now that she HAS killed , shauna (who is retreating back into her teen self) will think melissa is not boring , Tai and Shauna’s relationship is obviously over forever so my guess is that they’re setting up a tai & misty vs shauna & melissa fight to the death type thing and they either all die or one of them will be the last one standing

Been trying to put my feelings together about how I feel ms. Collin’s handled the alliance aspect of sotr , it was the first and only time we hear about people trying to form something against the careers and during the games where there’s double the amount of tributes! that is so interesting and I get that haymitch working with people who become the rebellion we see in mockingjay is important but I can’t help but feel the newcomers thing was thrown away in a sense , I think people prefer catching fire because katniss has a strong alliance and we see so much of what’s happening in the games because of it but sotr does what the first one did which is have the main protag be off on their own the whole time while other things happen somewhere else , but I want to know more about everyone else and it was set up perfectly only for it to be switched right before the games started

listen. i am a white western lgbt. I’ve never met anyone like that. I’m not saying they don’t exist, quite the contrary I’m sure they do, I’m just saying I think it’s irresponsible to generalize entire directions-worth of people because some of them are less than worthless.

This is not a new phenomenon, and I’m not talking about a few bad actors - I recommend you read up on homonationalism and pinkwashing, both of which are political strategies that seek to use lgbtq rights as a way to rationalise imperial domination of the global south, which is uniformly positioned as “backwards” “savage” “homophobic” and ultimately “uncivilised” (and uncivilisable). This is a strategy that is also partly intended to break solidarity between oppressed groups within the imperial core to those outside of it by emphasising the orientalist notion of the “backwards arab” who is too religious or too culturally/ethnically deprived to understand the necessity for lgbtq equality (and therefore casting all non-western societies as uniformly cis and heterosexual, only acknowledging the lgbtq people in those societies to point out homophobic hate crimes as evidence of Eastern depravity). I am invoking white, western, lgbt people as a group with particular class and imperial interests, whose equality is promised to them only if they help maintain western state power to keep back homophobic and transphobic “hordes” of brown people from the “Middle East” (which is itself a western-constructed geographical compartment - see Edward Said’s work, written about here and here in a more accessible manner. Familiarising yourself with Orientalism and the history of western imperialism will help you to understand the scope and power of these strategies).

I am generalising this group (which I myself am a part of!) not because I believe every single individual person within this group is anti-Palestine or believes in white supremacy, but because 1) we benefit from homonationalism and pinkwashing directly, and 2) our status as a group is used as a political cudgel to rationalise the destruction of liberation movements outside of the West. Because of these things, coupled with how deeply white supremacy is baked into western government structures and institutions, it is extremely easy for white western lgbt people to grant themselves a patience and mercy with unlearning reactionary attitudes that they are unwilling to grant to non-white, non-western people (including the many lgbtq people who live outside of the west, including lgbtq Palestinian people!). The least we can do in this case is to reject this destiny for ourselves and call out this strategy for what it is - a fascist project that uses lgbtq acceptance as a pretext for rationalising genocide. In this instance, I am fine with overgeneralising, because I think it’s useful to emphasise our group interests over individual political opinions within the group, because we are used as a group to champion western domination.
