Dramas I've watched from September till now.
FL is the hidden daughter of a presidential candidate. ML is a former soldier who becomes her bodyguard after being betrayed by his own people. Love story between both sets between political stuff, revenge, and tragic pasts.
I’d been putting this one off for a couple of reasons. First, it didn’t really catch my attention at the beginning, and then when it finally did, I thought it’d be better to save it for a good moment. Then I recommended it to my grandma (lol) since she’s a big fan of Ji Chang Wook (who isn’t?) and she absolutely loved it and couldn’t stop talking about it. So I gave it a try and she was right, this one’s one of the good ones. I thought it wouldn’t have any romance, but it was actually really cute. The action was probably the best part.
My Roommate is a Gumiho, 2021 (kdrama) (rewatch!) 8
A university student accidentally swallows a gumiho’s pearl and has to move in with him as they come up with a plan to retrieve it and help the gumiho become human.
Hye Ri is just the best. Comedy queen for real. I forgot how funny this was, she made me laugh out loud so many times. When I started getting back into dramas, I wanted to watch something silly, and this was a perfect rewatch long overdue. Hye Ri and Jang Ki Yong had amazing chemistry, and I really hope they’re the next pair to reunite in a new drama like Suzy and Kim Woo Bin did this year. But the one who truly steals the show here is Kang Han Na. She was just so funny and sweet in this one. I'm watching her in Bon Appetit Your Majesty now and I just can't take her villanous side serious because even though she's great in it, I keep remebering Miss POX girlie.
Bon Appetit Your Majesty, 2025 (kdrama) 8.5
FL is a chef who accidentally time travels back to Joseon, where after a few misunderstandings she ends up working for the king, a feared tyrant with a tragic fate, as the royal chef.
Yoona never fails! But I have to say, Lee Chae Min was the one who really surprised me here. His previous dramas hadn’t really caught my attention, but he truly stood out in this one. Good for him, especially since he was apparently replacing Park Sung Hoon, and honestly, looking back, he was a much better choice. (Nothing against Park Sung Hoon, I guess. I just can’t see him in a role like this, no matter how great a villain he is.) The food looked delicious, and I thought I’d get bored with the story focusing more on that, but I actually enjoyed it all the same. The last two episodes were a bit tedious to get through, but that’s more on me. I get bored easily.
Head Over Heels, 2025 (kdrama) 8
A teenage shaman receives as a client a boy who’s got… well, just about everything wrong with him energetically and spiritually lol. She falls in love at first sight and promises to save him from doom.
When I started this, I was obsessed. It was exactly what I needed, even though I was a bit unsure about Choo Young Woo being the right choice for this drama. By episode ten, it becomes repetitive. It definitely didn’t go in the direction I was expecting, and I’m not sure how I felt about that. I still watched it because it was entertaining enough (though the repetitive parts did make it a bit boring). Overall, a cute watch, very reminiscent of Lovely Runner (the positive aspects I had in mind of LR). Cha Kang Yoon cracked me up, he was a scene stealer.
Spirit Fingers, 2025 (kdrama) 8.5
An introverted, insecure girl gets invited to join a croquis drawing club made up of people from all different generations. Along the way a (lunatic) guy crosses paths with her. He’s not only the younger brother of one of the Spirit Fingers members, but he also quickly becomes interested in her.
I started this on a whim. I usually avoid high school dramas since they can feel a bit childish, but after watching this I realized I’ve been missing out, this was exactly the kind of drama I've been missing, the type you can binge without fastfowarding anything. It is a bit messy but it’s also incredibly cute. And even when it got frustrating, it felt understandable because it dealt with relatable emotions for me, like inferiority complexes and abusive family dynamics. The second leads were everything, I loved their personalities so much even though I’m a friends to lovers hater lol. The ending was super rushed, but overall the drama is completely worth it. It honestly made me sad to say goodbye to the characters once it was over.
Typhoon Family, 2025 (kdrama) 9/9.5
1997. South Korea enters an economic crisis, and the ML’s father, owner of a trading company, loses everything. ML has to take over with no knowledge whatsoever. The FL, an employee at the company, becomes his partner in trying to protect his father’s legacy and navigate the economic crisis.
What’s with the rating of this on MDL? I was excited to binge it once it finished, but the rating scared me a bit. Ignore it when deciding whether to watch it or skip it. From the brief summary, it does sound a little boring, but Lee Jun Ho and Kim Min Ha should be reason enough for anyone to watch. I’m usually not convinced by how Korean dramas portray past decades, and while this one isn’t perfect, I felt completely immersed in the 90s and its overall atmosphere. It’s a truly heartfelt drama with romance sprinkled in, which definitely made it worthwhile for me (I need romance, okay? lol) It was great because not only Jun Ho and Min Ha delivered one of the greatest chemistries in dramaland but the second leads were good as well! They were extremely cute!
The thing that made Typhoon Family feel a bit heavy was how stressful it was. They’d finally manage to make progress only for it to be taken away from them again, and that cycle repeated throughout the drama, making it feel somewhat repetitive. But by the end, I sort of understood that this dynamic helped make the ending more sentimental, since you feel like you’ve been through absolutely everything with this group. You know the type of dramas where the beginning feels incredibly far away from the ending?. It’s one of the best dramas of the year for me.
