A Felt Abacus
I wanted to make a portable, easy-to-handle abacus, and here it is! It is made from felt, and can be folded or rolled up, for easy travel or storage.
This abacus is for preschoolers and kindergartners, with just 10 beads.
Here is a link to my kids learning shop; there are some felt abacuses there -- www.etsy.com/shop/allthetimelearning

Big Blue Bug
Big Blue Bug --
Have you ever thought about how vowels are used in every word -- but some consonants are not as frequent? Well, this ebook, Big Blue Bug, is all about consonants . . . there are printable work pages, one for each consonant, that kids can use to practice their handwriting. There are three fun words to write, plus a phrase (such as "big blue bug").
You can see some sample pages here:

Van Gogh used a lot of tiny dash lines in many of his paintings. So using this technique, I made some Van Gogh-style pictures.
First, a sketch --
Then with markers, lots of little dash lines; some of them go in twirly patterns, and some are in straight lines.
Next, color crayon is added -- to put in some more color flecks and shading.
Here is another set using felt pen first, then crayon added in:
This is a pretty easy technique, and the pictures turned out so nice; kids could easily use this method to make some beautiful impressionist-style artwork!
Math Games -- you can make these yourself with the printables and instructions in this free ebook -- www.gentleshepcurr.com
