Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo, 2007

Another post for Tailored Wax. Today we have the demos album of Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo. This album contains demos from before and during the time that Rivers was with Weezer. The fact that I was able to pick this one up with the lyrics sheet is great because he gives a little background on virtually every song. What inspired him to make it and what the process was like. I always enjoy finding out little tidbits like that. This is probably my favorite of the Alone series. Maybe because it captures Rivers in a very vulnerable place and it shows how experimental he was with a lot of his early creations.

Rivers is originally from the East Coast and attended (and graduated from) Harvard University. He was actually raised in an ashram in Connecticut. Then he made the move to Los Angeles when he was 19. I think his background had a huge impact on the music that he made. Obviously in a good way. I like the fact that Weezer has been around for such a long time and they are still rockin.
