Listening “parties” like this are pretty common in the music industry for big albums when it comes to getting journalists to listen to stuff for review that you don’t want to leak.

A friend of mine did online PR for one of the biggest female singers ever. Her last album they had journalists come to their office and listen to it in a room with only a notepad and pencil which were provided for them. All listening devices were taken off them etc.

In addition to all of that though, they audio watermarked the songs. Through every song the name of my friend’s boss was repeated every 20 seconds over the music. Not intrusive enough to ruin the song, but enough that any recorded leaks could be traced to their origin, and enough that any recorded leak wouldn’t impact on album sales as who would want to only have a copy of a song with that over it.

All I am saying is it is very possible to get round things like this. And 1DHQ (NT or OT) didn’t. Take that as you will.
