ACNL Tips #2 How to choose a Perfect Town Map! (And change it later for some DS models)
Hey everyone! Today I’ll be going through some things you NEED to consider when picking maps for your ACNL town and how you can get a new selection of them if you hate all the ones that Rover offers!
I’ll also show how people with a DS running a firmware version lower than 9.5.0-23x can edit their Animal Crossing New Leaf map even after choosing!
Things to look for in a map! Before you tap “Yes, Here!” make sure you consider…
♥ RETAIL: One of my biggest priorities is having Retail near to where the island box is so that when your fish bugs etc. are in the box you don’t have to run miles to retail and back every time your pockets are filled with exotic catches!
♥ SPACE: Another convenient thing to have is a space to put PWPs (Public Works Projects) so they’re not crammed in or just bad-looking because of the annoying layout of buildings! Basically, before deciding, make sure that you can put PWPs somewhere good. Here’s a list of PWPs you can look at and see where you may want to put some down to see if your map works with your plans.
♥ PLAZA AND TOWN HALL: Personal preference is having your Plaza close to the Town Hall. There’s no real reason, but the two areas are both very mayoral and it makes sense to have them associated with one another. Of course if this idea doesn’t appeal to you never mind!
♥ YOUR HOUSE: Consider if there’s any good space left to put your OWN house down, you don’t want a awful spot do you?
♥ PONDS: Biggest landscape priority is making sure that there are no annoying ass ponds that will make it difficult to lay paths or landscape your town in general. So too many ponds close to buildings are a no-no! They’ll block paths and you can’t plant saplings next to them unless it’s one or more squares away unless you want the sapling to wilt and die, making gardening very difficult without making your town look like a gappy mess…
♥ THE RIVER: Consider if your river will make it a pain to path your town because of its twisty shape. Or if it’s too far one side or another making it difficult to put much on the less spacy side.
♥ BEACHES: Do you want a beach that you have to use the wetsuit to get to instead of just walking to it? Maybe you could hide things here? If you do want one, look carefully to see if there is one on the map Rover suggests!
Here’s a pretty good example, ponds mostly out the way, retail close to the box, a secret beach, town hall and plaza are together, a good spot for the Mayor’s home and a rather easy to work around river.
If you don’t like any of the maps Rover shows you:
Getting more choices is simple, you can either:
♥ Power your DS off and on again, then go through the process of seeing if you like one of the new maps. (Repeat until you find the perfect one)
♥Press the Home button, exit the game and then launch it again.
If you’ve already chosen a map and regret your choice:
Here is list of editors you can use to edit your town, with instructions on how to successfully work them on the links themselves!
RAM EDITOR -Move things, fill ground with grass, dirt, sand etc.
LEAFTOOLS -Basically a mini Ram Editor
MAP EDITOR -Change the acre measurements of town, beach and island.
Many animal crossing bloggers use these sites, but it’s at your own caution you decide to. Before using please check your Firmware version is compatible with the hacks!
Thanks for reading and good luck! ♥
