Malleus Draconia - Safe Alphabet
A/N: These are my personal thoughts and Headcanons. You don’t have to agree with me. The original alphabet is here.
A - Affection = (how affectionate are they? how do they show affection?)
Malleus is very touchy and kissy!~! Kissing your knuckles, he likes sticking to your side, hugging you when he can. He's very physical in how he expresses himself. He's just not very good with words.
B - Best Friend = (what would they be like as a best friend? how would the friendship start?)
He looms around your dorm at first. He likes stalking the perimeter and being mysterious. Malleus lacks a lot of social skills his peers have so he’s not sure how to interact with you. But he wants to be your friend! He wants you to be his friend.
He makes an awkward attempt by coming to you at 3am with a flier. Join his club, he is the only member but he assures you it will be fun! You will peruse the gargoyles with him and conduct research. You two get along very quickly. Mostly with Malleus learning from you and becoming fascinated with how quickly you learn and adjust to the world around you. He feels envy; and yet he’s so excited to call you his friend and tell everyone about you.
C - Cuddles = (do they like to cuddle? how would they cuddle?)
Malleus cannot produce body heat the same way you can. He finds himself wrapping around you constantly. Placing you on his thigh, hugging you close, or he'll tangle his limbs around yours when you sleep. His skin is so cold...
D = Domestic = (do they want to settle down? how are they at cooking and cleaning?)
He is a future king. He would love to get married and start a domestic life with you. Whatever that entails for a fae like him.
Malleus shows many signs that he wants to be independent. That he wants to do things for himself without help. Just recently he learned how to use the washer and dryer system without breaking anything! Cooking is still a bit of a challenge. Especially when he doesn’t use magic. He heard that cooking by hand means there’s more love in the dish. He’s still doing his best. One day he’ll be a professional!
E - Ending = (if they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
Malleus struggles with change. The thought of having to cut ties is something he mulls over for a very long time. Mind you, human life is so fleeting to him. As he thinks it over, it's already been 10 years of the two of you being together.
At some point he just puts up with it. Being unhappy with you. In subtle ways you can tell as he becomes more distant over the years. But only when you're old and grey does he confide in you how he felt. But you're so old you can only shake your head and tell him you knew. You just wish he told you sooner.
But to Malleus, this was as soon as he could do.
F - Fiance(e) = (how do they feel about commitment? how quick would they want to get married?)
Malleus dates with intent to marry. He is already preparing to court you once you expressed interest in him (even if it's platonic). His country is very old and very traditional. He follows the rules to a T that way he can be sure you will not turn him down.
He never thinks to tell you that his odd gifts and actions are based in courtship. He gives you a painting of himself, he sits with space between the two of you, he starts bringing you strange rocks and gems... From day one he was plotting marriage. He assumes you knew that.
G - Gentle = (how gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
Malleus is very aware of his strength. Sometimes it feels like he treats you like glass. You can remind him he doesn’t have to treat you like you’ll break but you have to be mindful that he could crush your head in his palms if he wanted to.
Scary but… He does care about you. He cannot risk accidents. But Malleus doesn’t spare your feelings. Sometimes it’s a lack of what is socially acceptable and what he has yet to learn for ‘cues’. But sometimes it’s charming when he’s blunt.
H - Hugs = (do they like hugs? how often do they do it? what are their hugs like?)
The concept of a hug is very foreign. Lilia gave him a few while growing up. But as Malleus matured the action became less and less. When he would seek his grandmother she would turn him away.
When you give him a hug for the first time he feels very stiff. Somewhat awkward. He does reciprocate as the hug becomes more natural. After that moment he seems to seek them more and more.
I - I Love You = (how fast do they say the L-word?)
Malleus is a man of few words. Mostly because he doesn’t interact with people that often. He is a man of action. It takes a long time before Malleus says it. He has some dramatic moments, but it’s not something that comes up often. Different cultures. He’s already carved a statue into one of the castle pillars to be protected by a gargoyle… That should count as an ‘I love you’.
J - Jealousy = (how jealous do they get? what do they do when they're jealous?)
Malleus has a bad habit of throwing a fit when he doesn’t get his way. But it’s not like a child kicking and screaming. He’s not used to you paying attention to others when you start dating. He gets all your kisses and smiles. Why are you smiling at someone else? Sometimes he pouts and he’ll confide in you later. Sometimes he gets angry enough to sneak a little magic, causing someone’s belt to loosen and pants to fall down… He can be petty when he wants to be.
K - Kisses = (what are their kisses like? where do they like to kiss you? where do they like to be kissed?)
He loves pressing his lips against the back of your hand. Feeling your fingers against his as he smooches the flesh. His lips seem to linger and the touch is always warm in contrast to his cold skin.
Malleus likes when you kiss his forehead. He’s very tall and he doesn’t get kissed there often. But when you’re in bed together or he kneels down, he likes when you kiss his head.
L - Little Ones = (how are they around children?)
Silver is the only ‘child’ he’s actually interacted with and that didn’t last very long. He’s not sure how to speak or play with them. They are not intelligent enough for discussion on topics Malleus likes.
He will observe at first. You may have to teach him a few things… It’ll be a while before he gets the hang of it.
M - Morning = (how are mornings spent with them?)
Waking with the sun feels so strange for him. He likes splashing cold water on his face. And he usually starts the morning with magic doing everything for him. He does like watching your routine. Sometimes he makes an attempt to mimic your habits and schedule. You do not use magic to wash your face and do your makeup? ... Show him your tricks.
N - Night = (how are nights spent with them?)
Malleus has odd hours for bedtime. He usually bathes before bed and he can't find himself sleeping at an hours that humans deem reasonable. But he doesn't mind if you sleep before he does.
He will sit in bed beside you and read. Sometimes he checks on his GaoGao in the night. He never wants to disrupt your slumber. There have been times he has used magic on you to ensure you are having peaceful dreams. Not that he ever tells you that.
When you are in the mood to stay up and join him, he invites you on late night walks and looking at the stars. Before you know it; dawn is arriving and you're yawning away. Malleus doesn't need much sleep. And he isn't diurnal. But he is happy to join you in bed anyway.
O - Open = (when would they start revealing things about themselves? do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
It never occurs to him that you would want him to share! He doesn’t open up unless you ask. Malleus has no issue with answering your questions. He’s just amused you would want to know. At some point he tries asking you similar things. Your life and existence is so different from his…
P - Patience = (how easily angered are they?)
Malleus has a shorter fuse than people realize. His anger looks very different in comparison to everyone else. He’s very patient with you. But when you’re involved he seems much more irritable. Going out in public together for something to eat. What do you mean he can’t turn everyone in the line ahead of you into piles of slime? Why is that wrong? You’re not allowed to get mad at him. These people are in the way!
Q - Quizzes = (how much would they remember about you? do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
Everything. Time passes very quickly to him. In the blink of an eye; five years have already passed with you. He’s learned so much and retained everything. The only point where he starts to lose track is the 500 year mark. Your scent is long gone and memories with you have finally began to fade. But he still keeps the pictures of you in a safe place when he misses you.
R - Remember = (what is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
When he asked for you to give him a name. It was your first meeting after all, and you’re the first person to treat him as a genuine stranger. You mean so much to him Child of Man. Not to mention you’re funny!~!
S - Security = (how protective are they? how would they protect you? how would they like to be protected?)
His biggest fear is losing you. You are his one irreplaceable treasure. And his GaoGao… He knows his status in the world and he always seems to be looming over you. If it was up to him he would pack you away in a chest with a lock and look over you forever.
Malleus doesn’t really need protecting. He has Sebek, and Silver, and Lilia… Not to mention the castle staff and a country that loves and fears him. If anything, he just wants you by his side when he fails a social interaction and doesn’t notice.
T - Try = (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
His courting culture is far different than any other species. For a date he has done extensive research for your species. Yes, you must proceed to hold hands now that it’s been your 5th interaction. After the 10th interaction, you may receive some gemstones at your doorstep.
Anniversaries and events after you’re married become holidays in his country. No work or school, everyone should be watching or listening to the broadcast from the castle. Even if you don’t like the attention. The country deems it important because the king decided it’s important.
U - Ugly = (what would be some bad habits of theirs?)
Malleus can be inconsiderate and sometimes selfish with what he wants. There are times you argue with him and go to storm off, only for you to be teleported back to him. He decided he wasn’t done talking. When he treats you as something he can control it becomes upsetting. He learns with time and you have to be willing to explain to him he can’t always have his way.
V - Vanity = (how concerned are they with their looks?)
He is a representative of his country! Of course he has to look good! Malleus has a makeup routine in the morning and he washes his face. He would get a little more daring or ‘enchanting’ the longer he’s with you. He is a lizard from his ancient roots. He is hardwired to be colorful to attract you. Doesn’t the smokey purple eyeshadow make you swoon? It should. He tried on a hundred different shades meant to hypnotize you…
W - Whole = (would they feel incomplete without you?)
Malleus can’t bear the idea of having to outlive you. Especially when you’ve been at his side for so long. He wakes up and wipes his eyes sometimes. Malleus knows one day it will come and he knows he’ll never get over it. And it’s worse because you met by accident.
X - Xtra = (a random headcanon for them)
Malleus loves to sunbathe. His skin is actually very sensitive but he loves the sensation of the sun since his dorm and Briar Valley are so cloudy and dark. He isn’t diurnal so he feels most energized in the night. But he invests in a sun lamp and his body feels amazing when he wakes up. Sleeping during the day and enjoying the warmth and rays… It’s the best way to live.
Y - Yuck = (what are some things they wouldn't like, either in general or in a partner?)
Malleus would struggle with a fellow introvert. He loves to listen and observe and take in the world around him. He would like if you did most of the yapping so it can become a learning experience.
A big yuck or ick for him would be someone who treats him like his status. He has too many yes men and not enough people who are willing to open his eyes. Don’t just agree with him because he’s a future king. Agree with him if that’s your own, genuine opinion.
Z - Zzz = (whats a sleep habit(s) of theirs?)
Malleus doesn’t sleep very much. Or need a lot of sleep. Usually he lays there in silence while thinking. He tosses and turns a few times but he likes spooning when the two of you share a bed. If he sleeps alone usually he’ll wrap around his pillow for comfort. He sleeps just fine without you. But he sleeps much better with you.
