POV: you tried to flirt with Olruggio
Imagine my shock when I see a canonical gay couple in Witch Hat Atelier.
They're canon! They use the word "lovers" in the translation I saw. They go on dates! They are "as close as two people possibly could be" (again, according to the translation I saw).
So like ... where does that leave us with Coco and Agott? Or Olruggio and Qifrey?
I was bopping along, reading the manga, like, "Of course these friendships have a heavy queer subtext, intentional or not. This is standard for many manga. It's not gonna go anywhere romantic, but we'll always have fanfiction and fanart."
But like, the world of Witch Hat Atelier is a world with canonical gay witches??? And it's not a big deal, it's not a secret, their friends even seem to know and/or approve??? There's even a hint that marriage was on the table for the gay couple!
So the usual veil of obligatory heterosexuality is immediately called into question! Coco and Agott could be girlfriends, but maybe they won't be because they're two of the main characters? IDK, Olruggio and Qifrey could get married and that would not be unprecedented in the world of the manga.
I have so many questions.
huge fan of people who give adult agott even shorter hair. give that lesbian an undercut. a crew cut. a buzz cut even.
fun police anime debut!!!!!!!!!
Iāve been enjoying the new witch hat anime as well as catching up to the most recent updates of the manga ⨠Iāve always loved the borders and details in the manga I wanted to replicate that ⨠this will be a blanket and print ā¤ļø
Tetia says: say no to ai pick up a fucking pencil

So Iāve been practicing to see if you should hover your hand and make practice circles in the air like they do in WHA and they really work?? Like I thought it was tedious but no it actually works(especially if you can drag your pinky before you draw the circle)⦠show done got me againšš©
This is such a BS that Qifrey, a guy who needs to be anxious to survive, has been cursed with the ability to see joy in the simple things in life.
He tries to be alone. Finds peace and serenity in nature.
Ok so he tries not to be alone. Finds a long lasting friendship which he cherish dearly.
Alright, let's try teaching. It's a stressful job and let's take in only a difficult misfits just to be sure. Ends up loving being a teacher and creates a found family with his friend and appreciates.
Like come on! The only guy for whom finding happiness in simple things would NOT be helpful skill to have. And of course Qifrey has itš«š«š«
I an finally reading the witch hat manga! So far I'm still solidly in the middle of what the anime covered, just appreciating the different artstyle and different views of the same scenes. However there's one bit that I think was CRIMINAL that the anime missed.
After this scene, where Qifrey opened the windowway and a shower of flower petals swirled around them in a display of how beautiful magic is...
We were supposed to get this little punchline!
Housekeeping consequences of your shoujo flower rain my beloved
sometimes people experiencing psychosis and/or mania will come up to you on the street and talk in confusing or upsetting ways. your job is to either have a regular human-to-human conversation with that person or politely leave. your job is not to call 911. do not call 911. you might kill that person if you call 911.
I don't even have the energy to screenshot and respond to your tags- what the actual fuck is wrong with you? "the cops are scared and rightfully so" "mental health calls are the scariest for cops" OH so this isn't about the safety of psychotic & manic people this is about piggy feelings?
and no, actually, this is not USA specific and no, actually, people from other countries should not ignore this post. police violence and sanism weren't invented in the US and they are certainly not unique to here. if you (or anyone) thinks that this bullshit doesn't happen elsewhere then you are not listening.
cops r Some Guy with a Gun
do we want Some Guy with a Gun in this situation? answer is usually "NO"
This is legitimately useful reframing. A while ago I started replacing the word "cop" in my vocabulary with "a man with a gun." It really puts things into perspective.
This homeless person is making me uncomfortable. Should I call [a man with a gun]?
My neighbor is having a loud party. Should I get [a man with a gun] involved?
There are some teenagers skateboarding. Do you think [a man with a gun] would get rid of them for me?
It makes it very clear what you're saying. I can call a man with a gun to threaten or hurt someone mildly inconveniencing me. You're not calling the cops, you're calling A MAN WITH A GUN into a situation that does not warrant a firearm handled by a volatile lunatic who will not be held accountable for his actions.

Qifrey is living a tragic Romantic romance/horror. He thinks heās dragging a starānot just any star, mind you, but āthe skyās kindest, most radiant starā, in factādown from the heavens to rot beneath his boughs and roots alongside him. The only companion heās ever held dearer is his grief, or perhaps his rage. He thinks heās destined only to drown in the cold, waterlogged grave they never truly did dig him fully out of, and that heāll cling to micro-doses of Olruggio of The Torchās warmth until he extinguishes the very last vestiges of his fire, his potential, his destinies, too.
Olruggio is living in a slice-of-life cooking show and worries his Very Good Friend (who surely must know Olruggio holds the biggest torch ever made for by now, right?), who takes such good care of Olruggio and their 4 children, is Not Doing So Wellā¢ļø again
