“No really, it’s not like I wanted to actually have my break.”
“I just need a renewal for my prescription. It’s for a pain potion. For this,” Aleksander pointed at the blood-stained bandages wrapped around his shoulder, “It opened up again and the pain is worse.”
“That’s pretty much what I was saying.”
“Why would anyone in their right mind do that?”
Teddy didn’t know if the guy was actually telling the truth, or egging him on. He sighed, narrowing his eyes in concentration. His mouth quickly changed into a duck’s beak, then turned normal a moment later. “Duck face,” he explained with a shrug.
“Oh, don’t ever do that again.”
“You know, duck’s beak.”
“No. I have no idea what you’re talking about?”
“Say what now? No, I won’t do the duck face.”
“What’s the duck face?”
“Well we’re not friends, so why else would someone buy someone else a drink if not to flirt or hang out with a friend?”
“Except for the fact that I didn’t ask for or offer drinks.”
“That’s a nice name,” She said kindly.
“Thanks. It’s Bulgarian.”
“That’s probably best. Looks like it needs it.”
“No doubt about that.”
“To be fair, I don’t know which way you swing.”
“I really don’t see how that has anything to do with it.”
She glanced down, a little upset at his short answer. Her eyebrows furrowed together and she tried to be friendly, as usual, “Okay then…. Uh, my name’s Bellona, it’s nice to meet you.”
“I’m Aleksander,” He said, raising an eyebrow at her disappointment.
“That doesn’t seem to be working out very well for you, but who am I to give a damn about what some idiot does with his injuries? They do, but that would also require keeping your own mouth shut.”
“I only just started and leaving it be doesn’t work straight away,” Aleksander said, “I mind my own business. I don’t see the need to stare at others or put my nose where it doesn’t belong.”
“Looks intense. Do you need help bandaging it or are you leaving it to air?”
“I was gonna bandage it later. I thought it could use some air.”
“Buy you a drink? Nah, I’ll pass.”
“Why would I ask you to buy me a drink?”
“I’m your sister, it’s only natural for me to be concerned.”
“You know the wound, Zhen,” Aleksander said, “It’s that one. I overworked myself at the gym. I promise I’m fine,” He started wrapping the wound in fresh bandages, “He glanced at his calendar, “There’s a full moon tonight,” He pointed out.
“Oh sorry, I was just going to ask if you wanted some dittany for it, I have some in my bag.”
“Last time I used dittany, the wound got infected. I think I’ll take y chances with muggle medicine, thanks.”
“If it opened a few days ago, you should consider closing it, otherwise it’s only natural for people to stare.”
“I’m trying something new. Letting it heal on its own. People should mind their own business.”
“My mistake, then,” Bellona said kindly, glancing away before taking a quick breath, “That was presumptuous of me.”
“Yeah, it was.”
