Sometimes I think about how Luke and Tara never knew what Penelope was like before she was shot or got to see how different JJ was before Afghanistan / Tivon Askari or met Emily before the Doyle / Paris arc. Then I think about how no one (us included) knew what Luke was like before he joined the army or Tara before her ex husband fucked her up. And now because I've decided to like Tyler I've also gotta think about how he'd already suffered so much before joining the BAU and even though the team has adopted him they will never experience who he was before his sister was murdered and neither will we. And all of it leads to such a richly layered team dynamic because they all know and love each other but some of them also knew and loved earlier versions of each other and we, the audience, also loved the earlier versions of the OG characters and have watched them suffer and change over the last two decades and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I don't have anything compelling to say about any of this but I do think about it a lot.
