LIQUID BRICK - THE PERFECT SYSTEM
4th - 8th June 2013
“In life, never give in to the system because the system will never give in to you.” Ryan Leonard
Liquid Brick, in their latest London exhibition, present their unique take on the concept of The Perfect System.
Within the anatomy of The Perfect System exists a sub structure of mini-systems, each curated from a conceptual perspective that may not be overtly obvious to the viewer. The systems embody contexts from the traditional to the contemporary, reflected also in the physical curation of the works. From desire to nostalgia, and chaos to process, the systems encapsulate the breadth of themes drawn from an expanse of minds. They have named their systems ‘perfect’ not out of arrogance, but from an ironic itch that just needs to be scratched, and rather like a petulant child they are stamping their metaphorical feet in a desire to be seen and heard, by proving that Perfection is indeed a misnomer.
Liquid Brick an ambitious group of art students, who seek at all opportunities to exploit their strengths and expose their work to the most influential of audiences. Divorced from the traditional constraints of art institutions, Liquid Brick represents artists seeking to explore their own praxis from their divergent experiences and points of view. This dynamic artist collective from UCA Farnham was launched onto the London art scene at the Menier Gallery in the summer of 2012. Their show at the Arch Gallery this June will be exploring the group’s diversity of practice through the challenge of creating the notional Perfect System.
“It is through art, and through art only, that we can realise our perfection.” Oscar Wilde
Quotes from visitors to Liquid Brick inaugural annual show:
“I love the variety and character shown through the works. A great exhibition and turn out.”
“Diverse artistry at its best – a bright future.”
