(Ratchet x Soundwave G1)
ITS HALFBAKED I COULDNT FIGURE OUT THE DIALOGUE OK-
Ratchet was already shaken from the sudden attack on him earlier that day, and naturally did not react well to the servo placed on his pauldron. The touch had been light, non-threatening, but the medic was already swinging the wrench in his servo at the offender before any of that registered in his overworked processor. A resounding clang accompanied by the sound of smashing glass flew across the previously quiet room.
Ratchet had only just registered that he had just hit Soundwave of all botsâone of the few decepticons who had treated him fairlyâ when he was belted across the helm. He toppled back into the wall, frame reeling as his recently re-melded chevron was snapped once again. Heâd no time to recover before servos pinned his wrists to the wall and a very upset looking faceplate was up in his vision. âRatchet: hit Soundwave. (idk smth threatening whatever)â
Ratchet could feel the way his struts strained as his pede tips barely brushed the floor of his cell. Soundwave then shifted Ratchet up â now his pedes were completely in the airâ to look him directly in the optics, a low, angry whirr working its way out of his vocalizer. â⌠Soundwave.â A sharp tink as a piece of crimson glass fell between what scant space there was between them. Gold optics bore into blue ones, and as much as he wanted to break eye contact, Ratchet didnât think he had that option.
âExplain.â
The position he was in was uncomfortable, and Ratchet did not want to explain himself like this; not that Soundwave would let him go until he did. Squirming only earned him a tighter grip. âI thought you were another one of the combaticons, and reacted as such.â Ratchet dug his heels against the wall in an attempt to gain any sort of leverage. âNow let me go, please.â The please had been difficult to say, keeping his tone polite and level even harder.
Soundwave did not let go, looking at him in an almost expectant manner instead. Ratchet very much wanted to hit the petulant cassette player with a wrench again. âandâŚ. I am. Sorry for hitting you.â He broke eye contact as the wall opposite to the one he was pinned against began to look much more interesting than the way his captorâs optics cycled in a mocking manner. âAnd?â Ratchet was going to kill this bot, enemy third in command or not. âAnd.â He gritted his dentae. âI will be giving you repairs to the best of my abilities, while (idk smth that they referenced in earlier chapters?)â
The pleased purr the decepticon made did not make Ratchetâs mood any better as he was gently set down on the Nemesisâs floor. He quickly scrambled out from between Soundwave and the wall, pretending to do something with the scant tools given to him on the desk. His spark was hammering furiously in its spark casing as he busied his servos with a piece of metal. There will never be a time where he will ever admit to being intimidated in such a compromised position.
Going on a very fancy dinner date and spending most of it busy dreamily looking at the other.
By the fifth time Ratchet is forced to fix one of Soundwaveâs damaged components, most of the fear at being a decepticon prisoner has left and been replaced by shock that Soundwave is somehow terrible at going more than a day not getting hurt.
Soundwave tries to make a song for Ratchet, but it never sounds right.
âSoundwave hates Orion cause he keeps taking away Megatron-â WROOOONG, Soundwave wants that medic so fucking bad but that medic wants Orion and now heâs petty about it, my friend has opened up my eyes to the absolute angst mine that in unrequited tfp Soundratch in this essay I will-
Trying to explain my Soundchet dynamic is actually torture thereâs so much going on but rarely is it like, properly romantic, small moments of softness bogged down by Everything Else but also theyâre not in love and also hate each other sort of maybe but they also trust each other in some weird way and theyâre the first person they go to when things go wrong
Somewhere between my last post of them and this one, theyâve shifted from romantic couple to worlds most difficult to understand QPR and personally Iâm a big fan
âBut Red, how can altmode be thematically appropriate to a character??â Well, donât worry bc the Canadian Government has this question answered for youÂ
Radio Silence transforms into an Avro Arrow, which was an incredibly advanced aircraft interceptor built in the 1950s for Canadas airforce. Only 5 were built before the project was suddenly cancelled and everything (pretty sure it was everything) was destroyed. The reason for this, as controversial as it was, was that it was too much of a sunk cost. Canada didnât have the pockets to fund such a powerful aircraft, especially when it could rely on America for protection (TO TELL YOU NOBODY LIKED THIS DECISION)
And Radio Silence? They were specifically designed to be a technological menace, something that could counter the Autobots on as many fronts as possible. But theyâre angry and young, and the mass produced drones are an easier solution instead of trying to raise someone (booo hate you Shockwave)

This idea from @transformersrarepairprompts of a Ratchet/Soundwave fankid but theyâre entirely unaware of said kids existence is SO funny to me I needed to make them real
So meet Radio Silence, I think they wouldâve been made by Shockwave (perhaps as a precursor to the drones?) through the combination of Soundwave and Ratchets CNA (unethically gained Iâm sure) idk I think she was made to be smart bc R + SW are both very intelligent people. But theyâre volatile and angry, too much of their own person and was deemed as a failed experiment before Shockwave moved on
Being very smart they were eventually able to get away from Shockwave and the Decepticons (Soundwave knew of her but not. the specifics) and she stole a ship and got off Cybertron. Idk how they get to Earth yet but trust it is happening
It is not unlikely, not unlikely at all, that Soundwave once had his wounds tended to by Ratchet after a battle. Perhaps more than once. Perhaps enough times for a friendship to form, or even something more. But Soundwave will never tell, and Ratchet isnât eager to share.
Secret kid. Bonus: neither of them are aware they have a child. Somehow.
Hijacking the autobot medics systems isnât something Soundwave does every day, especially not to force an open surgery on himself, but no day on this planet has been normal.
