October 30th. 11:47pm.
Alecto Carrow was only 13 minutes away from being the trifecta of disappointments for the Carrow family. They knew they were having twins, her mother was simply too large to not be carrying two, that was only part of the problem. They just assumed that if they were going to be blessed with two children at once, they might as well both be boys. It never occurred to them that a girl was even an option. But there she was, announcing her entrance into the world with screaming and a balled up fist.
October 30th, 6th birthday.
Alecto was sitting next to her brother, dressed to the nines in a tea length dress trying her hardest to smile while her brother opened present after present, addressed to the twins but one never seemed to make it to her lap. You would have thought her parents had charmed her into smiling so bright, a tear not daring to touch her waterline as her brother laughed and showed everyone what incredible thing they got.
What he got.
The years continued on like that. Alecto taught herself how to smile through her lips but never allowing it to meet her eyes and that came in handy as the parties were more sophisticated and for an older crowd, she started seeing herself in the eyes of women who she used to look up to. The smile was always there- but it never met their eyes. That’s when at the ripe age of 10, that Alecto learned that to be a happy witch, you have to be a mean one.
October 30th, 11th birthday.
When the twins received their letter, Alecto simply assumed she wasn’t going to be getting one, or she wouldn’t be allowed to go. It would only make sense, but of course, nothing of the wizarding world really made sense to Alecto. She received her letter, her parents allowed her to go, and the rest was history. Alecto completely transformed into her own being at Hogwarts, rallied her own group of humans and stood in the middle like the queen she truly believed she was. The years went on and Alecto used her last name for pureblood perks alone. She got into private clubs, aligned herself with the most powerful wizards children and always made sure to slither into a group that was just one person short, and always needed her. She became a powerhouse in the socialite community and a person that no one dared to cross.
October 30th, 21st birthday.
The mark burned deep into her skin, just before midnight. Alecto found it highly symbolic that she was taking the mark almost to the minute as the same time she entered the world 21 years ago. Amyus was not standing beside her this time. She was alone with the Dark Lord, standing tall in a room that would swallow her the moment she allowed it to. It was the first time in years her smile reached her eyes.
During the reign, Alecto continued to put herself in the way of very important people to explain that she in fact- was a very important person who would not be stopped any time soon. She found herself in rooms with people she never dared speak their name yet she was directing their next moves. She was unstoppable.
It took everything in Alecto not to statter the moment she heard the news of the Dark Lord disappearing into thin air. She put herself at the right places once again and landed softly at a muggle pub in London- and everything pulled together again. She knew exactly what was happening on both sides. It was shocking how many order members aligned themselves with this lifestyle and it was equal with how dumb muggles were at not recoginzing the magic that was right in front of their faces. Alecto doesn’t smile with her eyes anymore, but she still finds herself in the right places at the right time, with the right people.
