My dad doesn’t talk about gender with me super often but he was saying that trans rights are the big issue with Trump being elected and I said “For me personally yeah” and he said “No, for all of us. Because you’re a part of this family and you’re a part of our lives.”

And… I don’t really have anything to add to that. I’m just glad my family loves me I suppose even if they do drive me crazy sometimes. Even if some things are looking bleak.

I want to clear some things up.

1. I am not a teenager. I’m an unemployed adult in severe debt living with my dad out of financial necessity.

2. My dad wasn’t always this accepting of trans people. This is almost 8 years after I came out. We’ve had a lot of hard conversations. He’s become a lot better over the years. That’s partially why this conversation surprised me. It shows me how far we’ve come.

3. If your parents suck about you being queer, they might get better. They also might not. It’s not your job to fix them, but stick with them if you feel you can. If not, don’t waste your time. Build a family for yourself. It’s hard. Family is hard whether it’s found family or bio family. But there’s love out there for you. No matter who you are.

i dont think whites understand how being white makes literally everything easier.

being trans is easier when youre white.

being gay is easier when youre white.

being disabled is easier when youre white.

being a woman is easier when youre white.

being autistic is easier when youre white.

oppression is eased when you are white, as you get extra privileges, and your whiteness is seen as a positive characteristic that in some ways counter-balances your other forms of being a minority. whiteness controls everything.

you are automatically way more innocent in your own oppression as a gay, trans, disabled person because of your whiteness.

I don't think white people should be banned from critiquing anime and manga, but if a white person's critique of an anime or manga contains sentences like "this shows that Japan is culturally dead" or "most anime is made for pedophiles", that individual white person is clearly unable to let go of their prejudices against Asian people when critiquing Asian media.
