One wants society to accept & respect them & their various different needs, which is surely a noble cause, while the other would like to NOT BE IN PAIN EVERY FUCKING DAY, which is just as important but often gets shouted down by non-ill disabled people who only want to talk about disability as a social construct.

Every single person I knew (past tense) who has drowned was "a strong swimmer." Water in the wild does not care how good you are at swimming.

You are not going to pass a skillcheck against a rip current once it has you.

Waves will not bow to your physical prowess no matter how impressive.

Shock does not care that you used to be on your school swim team.

If you hit your head, being good at swimming isn't going to turn you face-up while you're unconscious.

You may be unable to return to shore. Rescue may be unable to find you quickly.

No but for real - we bought the solar panels for our narrowboat from Bimble! (yes it’s the same people/endeavour as the Bimble Bandada)

They were cheap and good solar panels. Really sucked the sun in. A good percentage people who live in vehicles get their solar power from Bimble Solar.

Doctor Grace, may I ask what part of Earth you didn’t expect to miss as much as you do? Like, the little things they don’t have on Erid?

Ohhh, where do I start? There's so many little things you never thought you'd miss. Of course, most of all, I miss my kids. Though, thats not exactly the most unexpected thing for me to miss!

I miss Mother Nature a lot. We don't exactly have grass and trees and miles upon miles of green everywhere, it's mostly brown and grey rocks, apart from any of the cool rocks I can fish out from the overabundance around me. Just a lot of rocks. Cool rocks, but rocks.

But anything unexpected... I guess the little things? Being able to walk to buy a really good sandwich from the nice old lady just down the road from the dollar tree, the smell of the earth after a nice rain, oh man, I never thought I would, but I kind of miss the sound of the guy who would come in and start mowing the grass at the first sign of the sun. It was most definitely annoying back home, but I miss it anyways. Even if it's really only a little.

You know what I don't miss? Allergies.
