yeah, i’m a BIBLICAL LITERALIST!!!
we all need to seek out justice EVERYDAY! justice for the POOR, justice for the OPPRESSED, justice for the PERSECUTED (Isiah 1:17, Matthew 5:9-10)
the rich SUCK. they have RECEIVED THEIR REWARD. they will receive nothing in the kingdom of heaven (Luke 6:24. 18:25, James 5:1-6) therefore, we should GIVE OUR MONEY TO THE POOR (Proverbs 19:17, Luke 12:33, Isiah 58:9-10)
God is with the PERSECUTED, NOT THE PERSECUTORS! the wicked do not know God!!!!! (Isiah 56:3-6, Luke 5:31-2)
when god closes a door i lock it
we’re stuck in here together bitch what now
Why why why does god work in mysyerious ways
Just be straight up bro just be yourself
Ilya Kaminsky, from “Author’s Prayer,” from Dancing in Odessa
religious symbols being used to uplift rather than tear down trans people. oh there is power in that. the beauty and holiness in transness. so that humanity might share in the act of creation.
crazy catholic saints are literally so personal
i would urge everyone to be extremely critical of any post that uses the phrase “abrahamic religions” and to think seriously before reblogging it: first, is this post true of christianity, judaism, AND islam? second, is this post specifically aimed at judaism or islam, but using phrasing to cover up their antisemitism or islamophobia?
Also, “does this post erase and essentially shit on middle eastern christians?”
yes!! thank you for this addition!
Alternatively, is it SOLELY about a specific iteration of Christianity, but you’ve shoved two other religions you know nothing about in under the bus because you want to cover up your church trauma with antisemitism/antimuslim sentiments for some reason.
Hold on I’m Jewish I gotta look some things up

Queer Catholic resources
Long post ahead! Here are some resources that have helped me through the years. I hope they can help someone too.
Resources in general:
New Ways Ministry: New Ways Ministry educates and advocates for justice and equality for LGBTQ Catholics, and reconciliation within the larger church and civil communities. Their website has a list of LGBTQ+ friendly parishes and colleges. Parishes and colleges which have LGBTQ+ resources and groups themselves!
Vine & Fig: Vine & Fig seeks to elevate the lives of queer Catholics as we find beauty and power at the intersection of our faith, gender, and sexuality. Vine & Fig has a private community you can sign up to, a weekly blog and a podcast!
Books:
Building a Bridge by Fr. James Martin, SJ: The New York Times bestselling author of The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything and Jesus: A Pilgrimage turns his attention to the relationship between LGBT Catholics and the Church in this loving, inclusive, and revolutionary book. A powerful call for tolerance, acceptance, and support—and a reminder of Jesus' message for us to love one another.
God and the Gay Christian by Matthew Vines: THE BIBLICAL CASE IN SUPPORT OF SAME-SEX RELATIONSHIPS. The landmark book exploring what the Bible actually says—and doesn’t say—about same-sex relationships.
Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians by Austen Hartke: provides access into an underrepresented and misunderstood community and will change the way readers think about transgender people, faith, and the future of Christianity. By introducing transgender issues and language and providing stories of both biblical characters and real-life narratives from transgender Christians living today, Hartke helps readers visualize a more inclusive Christianity, equipping them with the confidence and tools to change both the church and the world.
(a “vintage” one) The Church and the Homosexual by John J McNeil: A 1976 book by theologian John J. McNeill. The book is notable in the field of moral theology in that it was among the first books to argue that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality.
Podcasts:
Tabard Inn: Vine & Fig co-founder Pat Flores and his husband Jacob Flores discuss the news and most interesting articles of the week from the perspective of affirming Queer Catholics.
Queer I Am, Lord: an interview-based show hosted by openly gay Catholic Xorje Olivares of HeyXorje.com. Each week, Xorje will speak to fellow queer Christians about their spiritual journeys and ties to the religion, their attitudes towards the Church and its exclusionary policies, and their desires to either reform the institution from within or walk away once and for all.
De Pueblo, Católico y Gay: [IN SPANISH] An oral history archive of Latinx LGBTQ+ stories exploring how gender and sexual identities intersect with religion and traditional family values.
Youtube content creators:
The HippieCatholic
That Theology Teacher
Vine & Fig
I’ll proceed to share some of my favourite videos by these people:

A man paints Surah al-Falaq (The Daybreak), the 113th chapter of the Qur'ān on a wall.
It is one of the surahs that the Prophet ﷺ is said to have recited every night before going to sleep.
I think it's actually cool and great not to have any especially specific descriptors for your gender and/or orientation. just do whatever you want. yeehaw.
the way people talk about gender and orientation often has an implied understanding that through enough introspection/reading/fucking around and finding out you'll eventually arrive at the True Answer but actually that's uh. listen it's not gonna be the experience everyone has and that's fine, especially since the language we currently have to explain gender and attraction are pretty recent and relatively limited (as all language is!) and it's like. it's fine not to jive with that. you don't have to find a box you fit in perfectly and you also don't have to build a new box for yourself, you can just exist in whatever way feels right to you.
