New Ways Ministry: New Ways Ministry educates and advocates for justice and equality for LGBTQ Catholics, and reconciliation within the larger church and civil communities. Their website has a list of LGBTQ+ friendly parishes and colleges. Parishes and colleges which have LGBTQ+ resources and groups themselves!
Vine & Fig: Vine & Fig seeks to elevate the lives of queer Catholics as we find beauty and power at the intersection of our faith, gender, and sexuality. Vine & Fig has a private community you can sign up to, a weekly blog and a podcast!
Building a Bridge by Fr. James Martin, SJ: The New York Times bestselling author of The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything and Jesus: A Pilgrimage turns his attention to the relationship between LGBT Catholics and the Church in this loving, inclusive, and revolutionary book. A powerful call for tolerance, acceptance, and support—and a reminder of Jesus' message for us to love one another.
God and the Gay Christian by Matthew Vines: THE BIBLICAL CASE IN SUPPORT OF SAME-SEX RELATIONSHIPS. The landmark book exploring what the Bible actually says—and doesn’t say—about same-sex relationships.
Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians by Austen Hartke: provides access into an underrepresented and misunderstood community and will change the way readers think about transgender people, faith, and the future of Christianity. By introducing transgender issues and language and providing stories of both biblical characters and real-life narratives from transgender Christians living today, Hartke helps readers visualize a more inclusive Christianity, equipping them with the confidence and tools to change both the church and the world.
(a “vintage” one) The Church and the Homosexual by John J McNeil: A 1976 book by theologian John J. McNeill. The book is notable in the field of moral theology in that it was among the first books to argue that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality.
Tabard Inn: Vine & Fig co-founder Pat Flores and his husband Jacob Flores discuss the news and most interesting articles of the week from the perspective of affirming Queer Catholics.
Queer I Am, Lord: an interview-based show hosted by openly gay Catholic Xorje Olivares of HeyXorje.com. Each week, Xorje will speak to fellow queer Christians about their spiritual journeys and ties to the religion, their attitudes towards the Church and its exclusionary policies, and their desires to either reform the institution from within or walk away once and for all.
