Pairing: Emmett Cullen x demon! Reader
A/N: I was originally going to do this as a one shot, but I'm hoping to just make it a two shot ha. Hopefully I'll have the second part up this next week. I apologize for any mistakes. I'm writing this on my phone. Also for hell, etc I'm kinda merging supernatural hell and Lucifer show hell. Enjoy!
With a mind reader and a seer in their family, it was rare for the Cullens to be surprised.
Today as the family, plus Bella Swan, gathered at a field to play one of their favorite games as a storm loomed above, was going to be one of the rare days that they were surprised.
They were half way through the game when Bella noticed a woman standing in the higher branches on one of the trees surrounding the field. She was caught off guard, although it was hard to see the finer details with her human sight, she could tell the young woman was not a vampire. Could she be stuck? But why hasn't anyone noticed her?
Alarmed by his girlfriend's shocked tone, the 'youngest' member of the coven quickly made his way toward Bella. Concerned he questioned "Bella, what's wrong?"
Bella waved off his concern with a slight motion of her hand and then pointed to the tree where the young female was still stationed. "There. Is that..." She trailed off, uncertain of how to finish.
Her words caught the whole families attention, their game stopped they all looked in the direction that Bella had pointed. Surprised just as she was that there was indeed a female standing in the branches.
How had she gotten there without them hearing her? Without them seeing or smelling her? Edward wondered why he hadn't been able to hear her and Alice had wondered why she hadn't seen her approach.
One Cullen in paticular was more shocked then his siblings could imagine. He started to approach the tree first memories of his past, his human past, surfacing the closer her got to the tree and the more details he could recognize.
"Y-Y/N?" His words were spoken just above a whisper. It couldn't be, maybe a relative?
His family was even more confused. Emmett knew her? Turning toward Edward they gave him a questioning look, mentally they asked him all the same thing "Who is she?"
Edward, who had taken up a protective stance in front of Bella, shrugged slightly. Answering them all softly, so the stranger will not hear "I'm not sure. I can't hear her. But it seems like she was someone Emmett knew...in his old life"
A short laugh came from the young woman in the tree, catching the attention of the family again. She smiled as they looked at her in confusion.
Without hesitation she jumped, landing softly and gracefully on the ground beside Emmett. Her smile widened as she met his gaze "Hey Emmett, it's been awhile"
Without hesitation Emmett closed the distance between them, forgetting for a moment of his vampire strength he held her closely in a hug. "Y/N! It's you"
Y/N gasped "Emmett" she groaned "you're crushing me"
Emmett quickly released her and stepped back slightly, so he can really get a good look at her. She seemed slightly older then when he had last seen her, the night of her fifteenth birthday. His brown furrowed. "How are you here?" He questioned.
She chuckled "Ah, I guess I should explain that"
A throat cleared behind them, drawing their attention away from each other and to the other people on the field, his family who had been waiting patiently.
Carlisle was the first to speak "Y/N right?" At her nod, he continued "If you don't mind, would you like to relocate to our home? You and Emmett can catch up there, I'm sure it would be more comfortable"
Y/N nodded "That would be great. I have to talk to all of you actually."
With that said, the decision was made. Their game would be put on hold and everyone would relocate to the family house.
As they made their way the Cullens couldn't help but feel on edge. The woman looked human, she had a heartbeat, but she was someone that Emmett had known when we himself was a human and young. She smelled human but slightly off. Plus she survived Emmetts bear hug at full strength, something only those of their kind had been able to take.
Just who and what was she?
They reached their home in record time, all of them gathered in the living room. Once the family, and Bella who had insisted she come too, settled on the couches Y/N stood before them, her gaze rested solely on Emmett.
"You asked how I'm here, I can tell you that. But it might be quicker to show you" with a soft inhale she closed her eyes, in the next moment when she opened them they were a deep red. Not like how newborn vampires eyes were, but the whole area of her eyes were red.
Carlisle was the first to react, his voice shaking slightly "You're a demon"
Y/N nodded, closing her eyes again and when they opened they were back to their normal color and apperance "to be more accurate, I'm a half demon"
Emmett frowned as he looked at her "But how?"
Y/N shrugged "I've always been one. I didn't find out though until after I turned 15"
"When you mom died? You didn't..." Emmett didn't finish his question. But he did remember, going to their house a few days after her birthday. When no one in town had seen her or her mom. When he and his own mother, her mother's best friend, had went to her house they had found her mother's body laying on the ground, covered in blood and looking as though she had been ripped to pieces.
Edward grimaced as he saw his brother's memories. He heard his thoughts after as well, they hadn't been able to find Y/N. Nothing of her. Some people had thought she had killed her mother and ran off. Others thought it had been a wild animal that had perhaps the animal had taken her with it. Emmett had looked for her on every hunting trip following the event. Whether it be a sign of her death or her escape. He never found anything.
Both brothers were brought back to the present as Y/N spoke, their attention instantly going to her. She shook her head "No. I didn't, I would never. My mom..." Her voice broke slightly and she chewed hesitantly on her bottom lip before continuing "My mom made a deal with the devil. Her soul...for me"
With a soft sigh she started to explain what happened that night.
Y/N awoke suddenly. Unsure of what had woken her she looked to the empty space beside her and frowned, why isn't mother asleep?
Then she heard her. Out in the main area of their small home. Slowly, she got up and approached the door, opening it quietly as she looked outside and saw her mother standing, her back to her and a man standing in front of her.
She listened as her mother pleaded with the man "Please. I know our deal was for 15 years but please just a few more years. Until she is married, please I can't leave her alone!"
The man sighed "I'm sorry love. A deal is a deal. Once the contract is made and sealed it can't be changed. But don't worry she won't be alone"
Her mother shuddered and stepped back "What do you mean by that? You can't have her, that wasn't part of the deal"
The man smiled and Y/N gasped as his face changed, from the handsome human face to one that was scarred, red and anything but human "it wasn't off limits either"
Before her mother could respond the man whistled and from the shadows came two large ghastly dogs. Y/N watched in horror as the creatures tackled her mother, dragging her from the door and tearing her body apart.
She felt her throat burn with bile as she watched her mother be attacked, she was so focused on that, that she didn't notice the door open until it was too late.
She shuddered as the man's cold hand came up to gently hold her chin, making her look away from her mother and toward him.
His face had turned back to its human apperance and he smiled gently at her.
She tried to pull back, but couldn't. "W-who are you?"
His smile only widened "I'm your father and it's time to come home Y/N"
That was the last thing she heard or saw before her vision turned black.
When she had awoken she was in hell. There she learned that her mother had wanted a child so badly she had made a deal with the devil, her father, Lucifer. The deal was that he would get her mother's soul in return in 15 years after she had been born.
Once she got in hell, her father removed the spell he had placed on her to hide her demon side. She never saw her mother's soul again and had no choice but to go along with her father and his antics.
Finishing her tale Y/N watched the Cullens closely. Each were lost in their own thoughts as they processed her story.
Surprisingly it was Bella who spoke first. "I have a question"
Y/N rose a brow and Bella took this as an okay to ask "Vampires...when they die where do they go?"
Y/N's brow furrowed, she was surprised that the human was the one asking that. But given her relationship with the one beside her, she supposed it was only natural to wonder. She was sure the girl would become one of their kind eventually. "Purgatory"
Y/N shook her head "No. Hell is for human souls. Not for those of the supernatural. Every supernatural beings soul goes to purgatory. Whether they were good or evil." Y/N shrugged "they go there. It is a limbo of sorts. It's not too bad-as long as you know how to survive"
It was Edward that asked the next question "Why can't I read your mind?"
Y/N smiled softly "I'm blocking you, trust me, it's better for you that way". She looked toward Alice then and saw her unasked question and decided to answer it "I'm not sure why you couldn't see me. I'm guessing you can only see what you know of or your vision is limited"
Y/N knew all about them. About most vampires that have been around for awhile. It was her father's job to keep tabs on them after all. Something he sometimes passed on to her. Depending on the situation.
Finally Emmett spoke. The look in his eyes almost broke Y/N's heart. He looked so...sad "Why didn't you find me?"
Y/N smiled sadly at him "I did. I just couldn't approach you. I always knew where you were though. I just had to keep my distance. I wanted you to be happy. You are happy aren't you?"
Emmett sighed. Truthfully, he wasn't. He had been. But lately, ever since Bella and Edward had gotten together, he and Rosalie had been fighting. He saw a side of Rosalie that he didn't like. They tried, but both knew it was ending. Their love it seemed wasnt meant to be.
But for Y/N he smiled and nodded "Yeah. I'm happy"
Carlisle spoke for the first time in awhile. Having processed everything and watched Y/N's interactions with his children. "Excuse me, Y/N. I don't mean to come off as rude but why are you here now?"
Y/N's expression became serious as she met Carlisle's gaze "I was sent here by my father. I'm sure you've heard by now but there have been a lot of deaths recently in a nearby town. But none of their souls of shown up anywhere. I've been sent to find out why and fix it".
