Over and over, repeat the process until one team scores. You do whatever you can to get that ball over that net, you understand me? It's a win or lose situation out there and only you, helping each other, can can get us this win. Give it your all girls, play like it's your last game, play like you'll never set foot on that damn court ever again! Now who are we?"
The seven sisters gathered around in a group huddle smiled before loudly shouting in unsion.
"With everything we've got!"
"Now, dont make me or yourselves a liar girls. Now get on that court, let's beat their asses!"
They all nod to each other with smiles and "whoops" of confidence before breaking the huddle and running onto the court.
Jupiter Abbot positioned herself in the right corner of the court, standing by one of her team mates and looking around at the other girls who had become her family over the long, late and early hours of everyday practice. Their preferred names were printed on the back of their black under armour shirts in big bold light blue letters with their number under it and the school name under that.
Jupiter was at home here on the courts, this is what she lived for.
The sound of shoes screeching loudly on the smooth clear finish of the gyms floor. The net slightly swinging as the girls before it touched, batted or held onto it as they liked their hands and traced their palms down the bottom of their shoes. The smell of sweat long dissipated into the air combined with the smell of the new and old volleyballs gathered in a wheeled basket specially designed for them. The scent of sweets and other junk foods bought from the food stands a little ways from the court. The creaking and squeaking of the school colored bleachers and chairs surrounding the court as a multitude of people filled them. Their loud chatter filling the room as they waited for the game to start. The sound of the ball bouncing off of the ground as it was tossed to her from the old referee, now climbing the ladder to at the pole of the net. The sound of the white ball smacking against the floor as she hit it to the ground, letting it bounce back up repeating the process a few times, preparing herself for the start of the game. The anticipation of hitting the ball over the net, the adrenaline coursing though her veins and the fear of any mistake. They way she moved as she prepared to hit the ball, telling herself "you've got this" over and over again. The crowds tensing up and watching closely as she gracefully moved. The way she stepped back to throw the white sphere into the air, high enough to preform the correct sequence of steps, to run, jump and hit the smooth surface of the ball with a loud smack that echos throughout the tall room. The cheers and "whoops" from the crowd as they watch with looks of awe and amazement as the ball soars over the black net. The feeling of her feet touching the ground, dropping into her stance to prepare for the other teams defense.
This was what Jupiter lived for.
