Which Character Trope Are You?

The Anti-Hero

A central character in a story, movie, or drama who lacks conventional heroic attributes. They often fail many times and are known to be flawed. Opposite of the Tragic hero, you often do things out of selfishness so you can advance and grow as an individual. This is often done unconsciously. When people ask for favors, you expect rewards in return. Your personality can be seen as complicated and you often can through a cycle of moods in a matter of what seems like seconds. You're seen as typically aggressive and full of emotion. There would be times where it seems like you are completely calm and then at a flip of coin be upset about something. You have a lot on your mind 24/7 and it's hard for you to handle. Sometimes your attempts at showing you care can backfire, since you often get too into the emotional aspect of the situation.

He hoped she wouldn’t be too bummed to know there was a lack of gems. She seemed to really love being a teacher at Little Homeschool, and all the gems there seemed to look up to her. Maybe she could find a way to connect with humans here. She didn’t seem to struggle with that as much as Garnet or Pearl.

“The Diamonds?” Steven’s eyes widened. “Oh geez, White Diamond is the last thing you remember? No wonder I seem so different now. Hm… that’s okay…we can work with that. How about everything else? Do you…feel okay? Do your powers work?”

He didn’t expect them to, but that was okay. He’d just make sure to watch out for her. It was sort of his responsibility now as someone with all their powers.

weird aliens? seems about typical. steven is entirely more concerned about the state of things than amethyst, and maybe in part it is because of her more easy-going approach to life. not like she hadn’t been uprooted from her own sense of normal before. it was more her defiance that fought the idea of being trapped any one place...

but she didn’t have any reason not to trust steven on this stuff.

the implications of his question his question, however, touch on something a bit more distressing to her-- her powers are a part of her. its not as if she hadn’t notice their absence. she just hated having to confront it because it made her feel so.. less.

“... you’re not shapeshifting, arn’t you?? .... like... okay. okay, im following. this is cool. I can- I can do this--”

amethyst shifted into an infant, more of a mockery of one than any accurate facade, but the illusion was there. and in part, it made her feel a little better to prove this much of herself to be true. she pulled a pacifier from her lips to speak:

“but any bigger?? nope. whip?? gone. i’ve been robbed, man.” amethyst paused, sticking the pacifier back in to think for a second, letting it settle in that she’s lost such a large part of herself, and now was missing a chunk of time with her best friend, “... robbed.”

it wasn’t as if amethyst had a family by technicality... but the crystal gems had always been close enough. they hadn’t ever called each other family before steven came around-- it wasn’t something that came natural to the others. but through greg, steven, and the humans of beach city... they’d begun to understand and recognize that their close little unit... was a family.

“after thinking about it and realizing that dang my friends... are kind of like a family... well, i guess i got one of them families too.” amethyst held a hand out for a highfive, “shoot, i’ll be your family, girl.”

ive been working on some pieces as a tribute for su and so i’m drawing each of the characters i felt especially connected with throughout the yrs.. first is amethyst!

i was a lonely kid growing up and i felt unwanted and alone, like i was a mistake much like amethyst. her arc in season 1 helped me really understand that i wasnt the only one to feel the ways i did, and her growth over the years strongly mirrored my own.
