I’m not even an anti-internet person like I love the internet, I just get so frustrated with the passive way people have become accustomed to using it now. not actively seeking things out or engaging with communities, just turning their brain off & letting the algorithm feed them whatever it wants. & I can’t help but feel like that’s partially to blame for the current state of things (anti-“woke” backlash is easier to digest if you turn your brain off when online)
there are so many amazing things to do online… find recipes, look at your friends’ weird art, download PDFs, join a book club, learn a language or a new skill, look thru archives… so I just get frustrated that these things are being lost in favor of Consuming Content
A rough translation.
I'll sing (a song) enveloped in the feelings I've had since we met (until now)
I don’t believe it was fate but a culmination of (our) treasured chance moments.
That’s why….
A (potential) story in 4 parts 🌸⚔️
The way this could be the natural progression from the ending. 🌸⚔️
hii so the state of missouri is trying to propose a bill that will allow the government to hunt down migrants and place them in concentration camps!
theyre bribing people to report undocumented immigrants for a reward of $1,000. this is clearly an excuse to detain people of color as there is no way to tell if someone is here legally based purely on the color of their skin. anyone found guilty will serve life imprisonment.
link to the bill
if youre from missouri please sign this petition.
please share this.
Ok I'm not sure that a change.org petition is your best bet in this particular case.
I mean. Sign and share if you want, as i doubt it would hurt anything, but change.org petitions don't do much on their own, because US lawmakers have no legal requirement to pay any attention to them.
Per CNN: https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/23/us/do-online-petitions-work-trnd/index.html change.org petitions can help with getting the word out, and gaging interest in a subject, but it's hard to quantify any direct impact they have on the cause in question.
Pointing them at the change.org petition MIGHT help, but having their actual constituents ACTUALLY CONTACT THEM IN LARGE NUMBERS would probably help more. This is especially true if whomever started the petition has no plans to actually do anything to bring it to your lawmakers' attention.
PROBABLY what you SHOULD do is:
Contact the committee members for SB72 to request a second hearing, and then attend the hearing to dissent.
List of committee members: (individual links at the end) https://www.senate.mo.gov/Committees/CommitteeDetails/53
Call/Email your Missouri State representatives and tell them not to vote in favor of this, because if they do, you WILL vote them out of office.
Link to find your Missouri State Senator: https://www.senate.mo.gov/Senators
Link to find your Missouri State Representative: https://house.mo.gov/FrontPageMobile.aspx
Inform your neighbors and friends and family - try to get them to call/email as well.
DO NOT tell people who's potentially an immigrant, illegal or not.
DO NOT ask about people's country of origin. The less you know, the easier it is to tell the truth, which is that you don't know any illegal immigrants.
DO try to give people a heads up if you know a raid is coming.
Supplementary Info:
According to this link: https://www.senate.mo.gov/25info/BTS_Web/Actions.aspx?SessionType=R&BillID=523 this bill had its public hearing held on 1/27/2025, so the next step would be either be a second hearing, or PERFECTION (see details below).
It doesn't look like a final committee vote has been taken on this bill, and I can't find anything saying that Perfection is scheduled for this bill yet: https://www.senate.mo.gov/25info/bts_CommMinutes/MinutesRpt?CommitteeID=173
That means you MAY still be able to request a second hearing. But just in case, you should ALSO call your congresspeople and tell them to vote against SB72.
https://www.senate.mo.gov/bill-law.htm <- link to an explanation of how Missouri state bills become laws:
INTRODUCTION:
A Missouri State congress member must introduce the bill to Missouri State congress, where it undergoes its first reading.
The bill then gets assigned to the appropriate committee.
The bill then gets assigned to the appropriate committee, who does the second reading.
The committee holds a public hearing on the bill in question; sometimes there are multiple, for lengthy or controversial bills (This is the step that this bill is currently on!)
Committee makes suggestions for amendment, if any, OR can recommend a complete substitution.
Committee then either makes no recommendation for the bill (I THINK it dies in committee at this point) OR it gets recommended to be passed on for "perfection", with any recommendations or substitution
PERFECTION:
"Perfection", in which Missouri State Congress debates the bill, with proposed amendments if any, and makes changes until the bill it is in its perfected (i.e. passable) state
Congress debates the bill and proposes any other amendments/removal of amendments they want
A finalized version of the bill is decided on and passed along for the vote
FINAL PASSAGE OF THE BILL:
Bill scheduled for third reading and final passage.
On scheduled date, the bill is debated IN ITS FINAL FORM (no more amendments) and voted on
Bill requires "approval of a constitutional majority of elected members" (18 for the senate, and then 82 in the house) to pass
SIGNING OF THE BILL [INTO LAW]:
Final copy of the bill is sent to the Governor WITH ANY WRITTEN OBJECTIONS FROM ANY CONGRESSPERSON
GOVERNOR'S PART IN LAWMAKING:
Governor has 15 days to respond to bills when Congress is in active session; or, has 45 days if Congress is recessed or adjourned for 30 days.
Governor can choose to sign (or not sign) the bill into law
If he signs it into law, it's done.
If he vetoes it, it goes back to house of origin with his objections
If he doesn't respond within the prescribed amount of time, it becomes law automatically.
IF THE LAW GETS VETOED: it returns to the house of origin and a 2/3rds majority of members of both houses is required to pass it.
TL:DR: Call or email your congresspeople (Senators AND Representatives) and tell them to vote AGAINST SB72

With the amount of foreshadowing chapter 8 and sector 5 had in it. I wouldn't be surprised if this and the fact they saved two kids is somehow foreshadowing the two of them having two kids.
I see someone on Twitter is truly falling into their hater arc and truly does just hate all creative expression that isn't there's. Cough cough Margot.
