Boraj’s latest EP La Costa opens with airy soundscapes, slowly building with voices and guitar, only to quickly move to a quiet, minimal state.  It’s a nice microcosm of the Chilean chamber pop band’s meditative and precise sound.  Singing mostly in Spanish with the exception of a couple well-thought covers, Boraj take the roots of Chilean folk traditions, but through a post rock and indie pop filter.  Featuring strings, bass and drums on La Costs’s longer tracks “Andar” and “La Costa”, the band proves consistently expressive and carefully crafted songwriters.  Boraj is very purposeful with all of their instrumentation, both organic and electronic as in the sparse, ghostly title track.  While there are some strong ideas on the band’s debut EP, Cambiar De Aire released in January 2015, La Costa is a marked improvement and a beautiful listen even at least than fifteen minutes.
