Garth Hudson - The Genetic Method
While listening to that great 1974 Band soundboard that surfaced earlier this month, I thought to myself: "I wonder if anyone has made a megamix of 'The Genetic Method'?" As one does! I didn't really check around to find out the answer to my question — I just made one myself. You're welcome ... please enjoy 40 minutes of "The Genetic Method," drawn (primarily) from live recordings stretching from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s.
What the heck is "The Genetic Method"? It was keyboard wizard Garth Hudson's live spotlight, which traditionally appeared as a lengthy preamble to "Chest Fever." The Band, of course, were not jammers or showboats — just think of Levon Helm's look of withering derision if you asked him to take a drum solo! But during pretty much each gig, the guys gave Garth the space to let his boundless musical imagination run wild, improvising on everything from Bach to Monk, literally pulling out all the stops. "The Genetic Method" was at various points celestial, devilish, beautiful and/or bizarre. A trip into the most far-out galaxies of music from Big Pink.

Happy tenth anniversary to this comic. I just learned that it’s still being shared constantly on Tumblr. I don’t totally understand why people like it so much, but I like it too.

Yakuza 0 was a ride I swear. 0 in the main story is like serious and sad and depressing. Meanwhile the side content is silly and weird.
