*Are you Feelin me Boston?* Mr. Fritz - Feelin You (Prod. by @J1K)
Born in 1988 as the 3rd of 4 children, Fritz initially wasnât into hip-hop until he was about 8 years old. This was the year when The Fugees dropped The Score in 1996. It was then that Fritz developed a love for the artform and started writing his own raps. It wasnât until he turned 15 years old that he started to take music seriously, when a chance encounter with a mutual friend brought him to his first recording studio. It was there that he met the group Black Mobb and, while he was still raw in terms of musical ability, they saw potential in him and asked him to join the group.
After a few years, Fritz eventually grew to become leader of that same group and went on to do dozens of features on various projects throughout the city of Boston. After a fallout over creative differences, Mr. Fritz then decided to branch out and start his own group with producer J. Capone (also formerly of Black Mobb affiliation) and they went on to form the Klean Up Krew.
The name Klean Up Krew, according to Mr. Fritz, is from the lack of a positive mainstream reputation on a national scale as far as Boston is concerned in the hip-hop scene. So Mr. Fritz and J. Capone have taken it upon themselves to âKlean it upâ on their own terms.
On July 10th, 2011 Klean Up Krew debuted their first project T.R.U.T.H. or D.A.R.E. independantly, which was a double EP with 2 different styles of production. Mr. Fritz made a decision to base all of his records conceptually off of Batmanâs rogues gallery, so that his discography would follow a certain theme throughout his musical career. He based his first record off the villian Two-Face, because he felt like he was ââŠtaking a chance doing this record this way because I might alienated a lot of people based on how I put it together. I have old-school and new-school kind of clashing on here, but it was also sort of an experiment, too. Because Iâve been making music for everyone else, I never really made music for myself, so I wanted to see what would work for me bestâ Although there were several different producers on the project, the bulk of the production was handled by J. Capone and Mr. Fritz themselves. Many listeners praised the production and wordplay that was exhibited on the record and it went on to generate 1000 downloads from multiple sites as a free download.
Currently, Mr. Fritz and J. Capone have been working on the follow-up record to their first record, entitled Bragging Rights which is set for a 2012 release date. They are also working on the 3rd record entitled Address me as Mr. which should be released sometime after Bragging Rights.
