wounds hurt — you see the blood crawl your skin. you see its depth. every serration is a reflection of the ground it touched violently. every movement after it stings uncomfortably. wounds are proof of damage, hurt, pain, and life. but tonight as i lay down with the world weighing down on me, staring at my wounded knee, i realized one thing.

this scar will last forever. the bleeding stops, the pain fades away. but fresh wounds eventually heal itself — our body doing its magic. but… there is a scar, much darker than the rest of your skin. a testament that a wound was once there. pain was there.

its been weeks but i’ve been trying to prevent scarring. nothing seems to work and i’m afraid that this horrific reminder of such pain will linger…
