BLACKBRAID Announces Second Album, Streams Massive & Blackened New Single
Sgah'gahsowáh, black metal genius.

An over 12 minute single that deserves every second of the run time. So hyped for this album.
No, not that Batushka... this Batushka.
Good news everyone! It’s the REAL Batushka!
Pretty sure this is the version with Bart, in the article they reference their (semi) recent tour in the US, which is the version with Bart. I also believe he owns the band name, so anything from the other side is going to be named something different. Kind of a bummer/kind of weird because I thought they were signed to Metal Blade as of like 2021... Not sure what happened.
Native American solo black metal act Blackbraid released his third single "Sacandaga" off of his debut album, Blackbraid I.
Oh FUCK yes
Y'all gotta check this guy out. He also did a cool interview on the Rez Metal podcast talking about his heritage and upbringing and how that impacts his music.
Biggest fucking mood.
They’re also meant for hiltops, not small rooms. Cant get the right reverb with all that echo.
they’re also meant to make you fight the english. don’t forget that part.
My fav bagpipe player was a dude who would go out to the middle of a soccer field near my college apartment on Sunday. No one was using the field and he’d just be out there playing his heart out and the sound were just spread out over the plains. I’d be working on art for class so I’d open the window and listen. I still have fond memories of the day a kid biked up to the edge of the field, ran over to the bagpiper and the music stopped for a moment and as they talked. I couldn’t hear it but I had assumed the worst, that someone had decided to tell him to stop playing. Instead after the pause the musician seemed to nod, readjusted his bagpipes and started belting out the Star Wars theme.
Holyshit that is the most interesting thing I’ve heard in awhile
Holy shit yes
I saw your tags about Bloodywood, and you mentioned Maori Metal and Mongolian Metal.
I'm assuming that was in reference to The Hu (whom are Mongolian and use traditional Mongolian instruments) and Alien Weaponry (whom are Moari, sing their songs in Maori, and often get their audience to join them in Haka.)?
You're right about Alien Weaponry! The Mongolian metal band I was talking about are a band called Tengger Cavalry, they're based in New York City now, but they're also a big part of the folk metal scene. I now have to go check out The Hu!
RIP Nature G. Taken too soon. Glad to see Tengger Cavalry mentioned in one of these posts, I see the Hu constantly but these dudes been in it for the long haul.
So for those of y'all still jamming to folk metal, there's a local Baltimore band that's trying to release their first full length and is doing a Kickstarter to get it rolling. You can check them out on YouTube as Isenmor and if you're interested here's the link to their kickstarter.
Sortilège is sometimes venerated to ethereal heights by those who remember them, and first EP once shook the scene in Europe. To know why, you only have to listen. No one knew who they were; most couldn’t understand what they were saying. They disappeared almost as soon as they arrived, and no one knew where the giants went after that. What we do know is that they were truly awe-inspiring. They were not a great cult band, they were a great band, a true heavy metal colossus. They stood among the other giants of the French heavy metal scene – Blaspheme, High Power, ADX – with an almost godlike aura. They did no wrong throughout their first EP .
Saw them at 70000 Tons, absolutely unreal.
i wish dwarves were real just because the folk metal they would produce would be completely unfathomable
why do people always pull hip-hop and rap as a misogynist area of music? yes, many rappers are misogynistic, but it’s not the only genre. let’s talk about country music, about the preacher’s daughter trope, the cutoff jeans, the get-her-drunk mentality; let’s talk about pop music, about the drugs and the clubs and the possessive “love songs”; let’s talk about alternative music, about “she’s not like other girls” and the manic pixie dream girl; let’s talk about classical music, about the exclusion of women now and in history.
let’s talk about how everyone’s first reaction is to villainize a primarily black genre before criticizing literally anyone else.
