"capitalism breeds innovation" was only ever true in the mid-2000s when cell phones kept getting more and more fucked up
^ healthy and diverse breeding practices
^ wild inbreeding in pursuit of uniformity and an arbitrary ideal of breed "purity" resulting in gross health complications
Phones is the opposite of dogs
what if TLT x Bridgerton au? 🐎
Not to overstate the perks of divorce, but as a kid whose parents divorced, remarried, divorced, and married again one of my favourite things is to show up to family functions like “I’m related to literally none of you. What up with these mini muffins tho”
I spent last thanksgiving with my ex-stepparent’s new spouse’s family and the kids were like “are you our step-brother?” and I just cackled like a cartoon villain
Relationship of Theseus
When y’all talk about the horrors being unending, you’re referring to the eternal cycle of meal planning/grocery shopping/cooking/dishes, right?
My husband was just asking me what I want to eat today and I pulled this up and was like look I hate deciding what to eat so much my most popular tumblr post ever was about it
love that kids are emo again. i love walking into the grocery store or goodwill and seeing some teenage emo kid all decked out walking around with their mom or something
I got to see a goth mom out getting boba with her preppy daughter a couple years ago. It was adorable.
As an alternative to 'sugar, spice, and everything nice'
I present: 'salt, vinegar, and everything sinister'
no it does not, I am perfectly happy with my obscurity
too late

The skeleton of a young girl, about 14 years old, was found in a room [in Pompeii] holding an eleven-month-old baby in her arms. The infant was adorned with bronze ornaments, which shows it belonged to the higher classes. The girl cannot be the mother, since she was still in her prepubertal phase. Moreover she clearly did not belong to the upper class. An analysis of her teeth reveals that she had been severely ill or undernourished in the first year of her life. Various molars displayed abscesses and shortly before her death a few teeth had been extracted. Her shoulder muscles bore traces of unremitting physical effort caused by lifting heavy weights. Most probably, Bisel concludes, she was a slave girl who was given the care of the baby by her master, unfit for other tasks, as she was worn down by hard labor.

Say you break your ankle. You could know everything there is to know intellectually about the injury. Even with this vast knowledge, you will still experience physical pain.
Now take this logic and apply it to things like ADHD, autism, clinical depression, and other less visible/divergent disabilities. You cannot think your way out of feeling.
That is to say: you are not a bad, lazy, or selfish person for struggling, even if you know why you are struggling.
Genuinely, thank you so much for this.
My favorite part about writing is that first spark of an idea. It can happen at any time, for any reason. The idea for the Opalite music video crash landed into my imagination when I was doing promo for The Life of a Showgirl. I was a guest on one of my favorite shows, The Graham Norton Show. For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a UK late night show where Graham Norton (the insanely charismatic and lovable host) invites a random group of actors, entertainers, musicians, etc to be on his show and we all sit there and chat like it’s a dinner party. They even serve wine. Anyway. I remember thinking I got ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lewis Capaldi. All people whose work I’ve admired from afar. When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall made a light hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! He was joking! Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an *idea*. And so a week later he received an email script I’d written for the Opalite video, where he was playing the starring role. I had this thought that it would be wild if all of our fellow guests on the Graham Norton show that night, including Graham himself, could be a part of it too. Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory. To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video. You might even recognize some friendly faces from The Eras Tour. I got to work with one of my favorite people in the world, Rodrigo Prieto, again! I had more fun than I ever imagined - Made new friends, metaphors, and fashion choices. It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters. Shot on film. The Opalite video is out now on Spotify & Apple Music.

Pick one of James Baldwin's works and read it!!! The Fire Next Time is an excellent essay, most of us are familiar with the quote on gay white people from The Last Interview but not the rest of it. If Beale Street Could Talk even has a movie!
Let’s aura farm (or be cringe?) with papa
I've been on here since like, 2008. I've seen a lot of shit go down. Nothing could have prepared me for finding out that we were right about like... a lot of stuff? The far-right conspiracies, the alt right pipeline, doxxing feminists and horrific lies about trans people...
I knew that we were right, but wow.
